U.S. Representative Kevin Brady (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, has introduced the Sound Dollar Act - legislation that would transform the mission and operations of the Federal Reserve to lay the foundation for strong economic growth for America in the future. Americas clear goal should be to preserve the strongest economy in the world throughout the 21st Century. To achieve that we need to get the role of the Federal Reserve right, said Brady. A sound dollar creates the strongest foundation for economic growth and output, while generating certainty and encouraging new business investment for job creation. To achieve Americas economic prosperity for the long-term the focus of the Fed should be to protect the purchasing power of the dollar by maintaining price stability.

Why can’t we just get rid of the Fed?
When the dollar loses its reserve currency status we will no longer be able to print our way out of a financial collapse.

and getting it right means, for the most part, eliminating most of these things.
We can’t “print our way out” even with the dollar a reserve currency. We can, however, spread the collapse around a bit and make it progressively worse even as we defer the very worst of it for a while.
This is already in the Fed Charter. They don’t believe in the law so a new law will do no good.
Well, for starters, Kevin is my congresscreep and I thought he was dead. I do know you have to hold a mirror to his face to see if he is breathing enough to fog it.
So what is the sound dollar act? What does it say besides his blathering platitudes?
