I wrote the article, and I think you’re a 1000% right.
I think it’s an absolute shame that I’m being forced to think this way. Given my druthers, I would have preferred to have someone that we could all get behind without a second thought. (I also wish RuPaul would have retired and went home to Iran before he inserted himself into this mess, but I digress.)
Getting rid of Obama is obviously our number one goal, but at the same time we can’t replace him with someone slightly different. We need a radical right turn back to the Constitution. I think either Gingrich or Santorum could do that, but I think Romney or Paul would be a complete and total disaster.
I also think it’s perfectly acceptable to take off the gloves during the primary process. The eventual election winner is never harmed by a tough primary. A weak candidate will always be weak no matter how much his people try to hide it, and a strong candidate will always win no matter how much he’s attacked.
Now, if Romney wins, I’ll shut up. Same goes for Paul. When it’s all said and done, I’m a member of the Republican party, as I have been my whole life. (I still have no idea why I voted for Pat Buchanan in ‘00, but it’s not like I voted for Ralph Nader or anything.)
Good thought provoking response.
+1
Yes, good points. Ru Paul, haha.
I think we will have primary closure soon. Newt is auctioning spare office furniture to raise cash. (Not really.) Rick is moving into less unfriendly territory.
Some people will still grouse about Romney being this or that or not being this or that and that’s ok, I groused about having to vote for McCain.
I hope Romney will fare better than McCain did against Obama. He should, The One has lost his mojo.
