Katy Perry boycott not the stuff of real feminists

According to Dictionary.reference.com, “feminism” is defined as: 1. the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. 2. (sometimes initial capital letter) an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women.

Reading this, one can almost hear Helen Reddy singing out the strains of “I am woman, hear me roar.” Insofar as the concept of feminism is concerned, I can’t seriously believe that anyone, male or female, living in present-day America can argue with feminism’s goals. Equality and justice (together with life) are the cornerstones of our country’s founding; indeed, all our rights emanate from these principles. To say that feminism is a worthy goal is akin to saying that the sun rises each morning in the east. I’m beginning to believe, however, that there is a growing contingent of individuals who apparently face west each morning awaiting the sun’s arrival. Last week brought us a case in point.

Only problem is this is exactly the same problem in 2008 when McCain was the guy. We held our noses and had hopes of Palin’s influence and we see where that got us. Countless cries of FReepers saying we will not get fooled again with another McCain, and this is actually worse with Romeny.

It’s a great video! It’s entertaining and the message is good.

Wolfe proves once again that tolerance on the left is limited to what the left tolerates, no more.

Yup, unfortunately this is true. Sadly, in a two party system that doesn't allow for coalition building you will almost always end up having a choice between the lesser of two evils. It isn't as if Ike, Nixon, Bush Sr, GW Bush, etc, were paragons of conservatism. You can scream, wail, cry, etc, all you want and it won't change much. Our opportunity to change things is in political party primaries and conservatives did not put up a candidate capable of defeating the establishment's hug-the-center choice. This will play out pretty much every cycle if conservatives fail to put a strong contender in the field. Pretty much every non-Romney led the polls at one point this primary season, but none could stand up to scrutiny and ended up imploding. Santorum is simply the last non-Romney standing because he was so much of an afterthought early on that no one bothered attacking him. Under the spotlight Rick has wilted just like the rest. The last time we had a really good conservative candidate was Reagan, and he may be the only one many of us ever get to vote for in our lifetimes.

He dad a conservative? Well, that’s cool!

I heard the song before I saw the video, and I *love the video. Naomi’s got it all wrong. She portrays strength, determination, grit ... everything it takes to be a servicemember, particularly a Marine.

What would Naomi prefer, that she go all emo and start cutting herself in her basement? Please.

By the way, I saw a documentary of her career to this point on Bio channel, and let me tell you, this young lady worked her BUTT off to make it. She got contracts, lost them, got gigs, lost them, and never gave up. Good for her.
