No, Trayvon was used to take the attention off the crashing and burning of their meme of the Republican War on Women and their attempt to attack Rush. It was backfiring on them, so they resorted to something typically racist. The problem was that they didn't do deep enough research into what they thought was going to pay off big for them and now it looks like it's going to bite them on the ass again, same as with contraceptives and Rush.

They know the heat was getting turned up because Issa wasn’t stopping on it. It’s a common tactic to reframe an issue to try to control the debate. They’ve used it to try to give blacks a reason to vote in November, and also ways to push getting rid of self-defense laws on the books protecting gun owners (ie castle/stand your ground laws).

The assault on gun rights continues with them reframing the issue around a thug they’ve distorted into a martyr.
