My tired old story about this is that I asked in school in 1983, I was a 17 year old junior and it was at the time KAL-007 was shot down. For sh--s & giggles, I asked, "what if in the future, the U.S. became the USSR and the USSR became the U.S.?" I then added, "what if we ever became the Evil Empire?" I'm afraid I'm going to get the answer to my rhetorical question of 1983.
