Doubtful he woud do that in view of his minion’s “etch-a-sketch” comment.
Is it really surprising that a person who is a leader in one of the largest and wealthiest secret societies whose president has absolute and complete authority over its members would have a top-down political leadership style?
Is Romney a RINOlander,
Who caves-in to Debt-Decline?
Will he re-write Obamacare,
And propel us into financial hell?
Will Romney cast out REASON,
And join the Democrats lot?
Romneys past brings sparse hope to mind,
Of those that are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY,
Of those who are not blind.
I loath Dictators of any stripe.
“a leader in one of the largest and wealthiest secret societies”??
I knew lots of Mormons when I lived in NM (1972-1986) and I know the history of their “church”. But I would not call them a secret society. Yes, it is top down, and some of their “beliefs” are absurd. But I think that description is a bit far out.
The Mormon’s who I knew there were faithful Republicans. (in a county where Dems to GOP was 5 to 1, I know because I was the GOP County Chairman there for a time) BUT when they had one of their own running, the Train Whistles told you to move or get run over. I saw that first hand. They would do “absolutely anything” to get them elected. FACT.
I would suggest perhaps you know the history they want the public to know. If people are loyal to a group until one of “their own” is involved - they aren’t really loyal to “the group” but using it for their own ends.
The Mormon church is an organization within an organization. There is a public face and then the elite one of a small group of insiders who control everything about the church. In the past those insiders who tried to leave and break the secrecy code were murdered. Mormonism is a religion, but it is also a political organization whose intent from the beginning was to take political control over the United States. Joseph Smith was chased out of Missouri and Ohio precisely because he attempted to overthrow those state governments. He was assassinated while running for the Presidency.
I would recommend you read, ONE NATION UNDER GODS: A HISTORY OF THE MORMON CHURCH by Richard Abanes.
I have a fair understanding about the formation of the Mormon Church. Especially what happened in Carthage Illinois. And I do know about the things he did that lead up to his murder.
Surely you do not suggest that Joseph Smith had any chance of being President of the U.S. That is just plain silly.
No, what I am saying is that the Later Day Saints have been a political and religious group from their founding. Their goal has always been to obtain political power in order to change the US Constitution to reflect the beliefs of Mormonism. Joseph Smith did not agree with the idea of constitutional representative government. He believed in theocracy where all authority comes from the Mormon leader who is a god and must be obeyed without question. His ‘church’ remains a totalitarian organization to this day.
Therefore, when Romney demands a loyalty oath from members of the Republican Party, he is being true to his Mormon beliefs about authority.
