I live near Chicago, and I agree with the author. I think that the Illinois legislators should cut the state sales tax rate, from 6.25% to 5.5%. More people would buy products in Illinois, and the revenue would increase. The legislators should cut their own salaries, from $78,000 to $55,000, per year.
