I’m not questioning his positions.

I’m just getting tired of wading through 24/7 hatred against Mitt Romney.

Seriously. The election is 168 days from today.

It’s time to start focusing on defeating Obama. Then we can fight amongst ourselves, and get a real president in 2016.

I’ll start, by suggesting Sarah Palin.

But first things first.

You Romaniacs wetting your pants crack me up! I’m reminded of the couple shopping for a new car. They drive onto the lot in their old junker. The wife is so sick of the no AC, sagging springs, worn rings blowing smoke, etc, that when a salesman walks up she says,
“Whatever you’ve got—we’ll take it! Whatever you want, we’ll pay!” leaving the husband flabbergasted.
No shopping, negotiating terms, price, financing. Just:
“Shut up dear and sign on the line!”
I’ve lived it. The first nice car my wife and I ever considered buying. I wasn’t happy with the car, and made that clear. I was ready to get up and walk away. The salesman got his supervisor. Eventually we hammered out a price.
But you guys, jeez ... Do you all live in your parents’ basements? You don’t go up to a salesman at Sears and say, “I’ll take that fridge there. Now, tell me what you want from me.”
You say, “Conservatives, get on the Romney Love Train! Now! We’re running out of time!” Blah blah blah, rinse, repeat.
There’s nothing said about a quid pro quo, or a `something for something’. All you talk about is unloading the old junker.
Worth repeating, that strategy that I explained above: It only works if you’re ready to get up and walk out/go into the booth and fail to vote for the GOP candidate. Used car salesmen and politicians have radar for a bluff, regardless of how good you think you are. If they don’t believe you, they say, “List price, sorry.” Or, “Yeah we know he supports infanticide but that’s just too bad ... “.
It’s hard to take you series. You say to us, `Trust him.’ and we say to you, ‘No, we want him to put in the platform, to put it in writing’ and then you say, “That’s not gonna happen, that’s too bad. Hey! Why do you want to vote for Obama/keep that old junker?”
It’s the same circular s*** from all of you. Give us a break! Tell your boy to make some serious offers or we’ll stick with Plan B: working for conservatives down ticket.

Now, go clean up your rooms.

If we elect Romney in 2012, he’ll be the GOP nominee in 2016 as well.

I’m not questioning his positions.

I think EV's positions are pure Constitutional-conservative. He has been a consistent and unwavering FReeper for more than 12 years. (and the fact that EV and I have March 24th as our signup date is a coincidence I'm rather proud of.)

I’m just getting tired of wading through 24/7 hatred against Mitt Romney.

I understand what you're saying. I have to point out however that if there is hatred directed at Mitt Romney, it is Romney himself that is responsible for that, due to his never ending flip-flops, outright lies, and currying favor with whoever and whatever is expedient for his political needs of the moment. Is he better than 0bama? That's like asking if Clyde Barrow is a better human being than John Dillinger, they're both bank robbers! My view of Romney is that while he probably doesn't hate America like 0bama does, he is still a big government statist, a socialist at heart who believes in big federal mandates and directives, as I've said in prior posts, 0bama if re-elected, will continue to pour the bottle of socialism down America's throat, if Romney is elected, we still get force fed the bottle of socialism, but it will be served up in ornate crystal goblets, you know "kinder and gentler II".

I hear the meme all the time about how "if we don't vote for Romney, we're voting to re-elect 0bama" and that is quite frankly, crap: I intend to vote for our fellow FReeper and FRiend Tom Hoefling, if someone tells me I'm wasting my vote, too damn bad for them - I'm voting for someone that I can in all good conscience, support. You (and others) may see it differently, but that is my stand.

Seriously. The election is 168 days from today. It’s time to start focusing on defeating Obama. Then we can fight amongst ourselves, and get a real president in 2016.

Again, I hear what you're saying but let's be honest among ourselves about that "real president in 2016" idea: IF perchance Mitt Romney ends up winning the Presidency this Fall, unless he ends up being even a greater screw-up than 0bama, he will win renomination in 2016 with ease, due to the natural advantages of incumbency, and the likely reluctance for any true conservative (a conservative Republican with some heavy political capital) to challenge a sitting President, especially if that hypothetical President Romney has even made marginal progress at slowing up, if not halting the destruction of our Republic that 0bama has initiated. And even if we take the longer view that we rally around a true conservative for the 2020 election cycle, it will depend greatly upon what Romney's VP does, Vice Presidents are generally a shoe-in for obtaining their Party's nomination, especially if the perception is that their boss has been even a nominal success. Is there an answer at all? I honestly don't know.

I’ll start, by suggesting Sarah Palin.

I have serious doubt that she will ever seek the Presidency. If she were drafted at a brokered convention, there is no telling what could happen.

In the meantime, I'm going to stand with EV.

I don't think Mittens is first choice for any of us, But the alternative unthinkable, 4 more years of OBOZO will make this country unrecognizable if it exits at all
