American Psychological Association?
He should know, he started it. When he decided to remove homosexuality from the DSM due to political considerations and not any science.
Then back tracked after the outrage..
Freakin Pervs
That would be the American Pathological Association. LOL
In the 60s, gayness was considered an affliction. The gays haranged, protested and browbeat the APA until their illness was reclassified as normal.
Great interviews - Thanks for posting.
I’m not a psychologist (PhD or PsyD), but a Psychiatrist (an MD whose specialty is mental illness) We also have an APA, the American Psychiatric Association. It is also a leftist club, which hardly represents members of the profession in this or many other arenas. Membership is low and apathetic - I quit many years ago.
Demonstrations, disruptions and bullying by Gay activists at the APA conventions of 1969, 1970 and 1971, led to dropping Homosexuality as a mental disorder in the 7th edition of the DSM-II, put out in 1974. I don’t keep up with their stances on DADT, Gay Marriage and other such Gay Agenda strategies - their opinions being simply irrelevant to me - but I’d guess they’re all for it.
Libs always seem to have the time and gumption to take over organizations and politicize them. It’s what they do. Their memberships thereafter decline and become one-sided, no longer representative of the vast array of opinions within their fields, yet their fellow travelers in the complicit media always hold them up to the public as representing their entire potential membership. AMA, APA, etc - only the leftist agenda of the media gives them any sense of relevance.
I just joined the ACA - American Counseling Association - as a student member. It was suggested by my faculty advisor as a good way to begin networking. I’m getting a master’s in counseling. I’m sure it’s the same thing in terms of attitudes, if my textbooks are any indication - all PC all the time.
The key to understanding the APA “normalizing” deviancy is the bonanza of customers for psychiatrists it produces.
To scientifically say someone is “mentally ill” means they have a organic disease of the brain (e.g. cancer). Sexual perversionspick your poisonare not diseases in that sense (regardless of the APA’s fabrications), and those that practice them are not “sick”. They are human beings making choices to BEHAVE, not hapless victims of organic disease.
That said, I like this quote: I am reminded of a colleague who reiterated ‘all my homosexual patients are quite sick’to which I finally replied ‘so are all my heterosexual patients.’ Ernest Van den Haag, psychiatrist
At least Dr. Cummings pointed out the anti-liberty bent of the current gay movement, with their insistence that there is NO choice and none should be offered. He called that “not respecting the patient” who wanted to change.
A male trying to mate with another male’s anal canal is insane. A female trying to mate with another female with a rubber appliance is insane.
To clarify: the American Psychological Association (www.apa.org) does not “produce” “psychiatrists”...Dr. Cummings is a psychologist, holding Ph.D. & Sc.D., not M.D.
But the American Psyciatric Association does have a similar problem.
Gave up my membership in the APA (The American Psychological Association, that is) when I retired close to 15 years ago now - they were heading down the PC road way back in the early 70’s when, for instance, they tried to boost minority presence in the field by insisting that black patients could best be served only by black therapists (without apparently considering the implication of the claim - that white patients could thus best be served only by white therapists) and when they gave Teddy “The Swimmer” Kennedy a major award with much fanfare for his supposed dedication to women’s causes - LOL. Glad somebody’s finally catching on after a decade and a half......
Obviously, as a professional association, APA does not produce either psychologists or psychiatrists, but the results of their respective policies is the same. Their policy produces deviants that become customers for psychiatrists and psychologists. Both have leveraged the power of state licensure to define morality downward, to their ultimate financial benefit.
PC must be dumped—and will be in time. It was a foolish Hippie idea that didn’t work.
Dr. Laura was pretty much the only national person that went after them, and it cost her being on land-radio. She lost it when the APA started trying to ‘normalize’ pedophilia...at that point the gays took her down.
or American Pedophilia Association
