I mentioned this once before when Paul McCartney was the topic. My only God son, Justin, developed flu-like symptoms in August of 2010 at the age of 26. He went to a walk-in clinic and imaging showed a melon sized mass in his chest. He was eventually diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer; only eight cases recorded before him. He survived until march of 2011. In February of thatvyear he was at Sloan in NYC for treatment. His spirits were good and he was comfortable but he knew h had little time left.
He was sitting in his hospital room with his mother when Paul McCartney walked in. He had a Taylor guitar with him and spent about an hour talking, playing and singing with Justin. As he was leaving, he pulled out a sharpie and autographed the guitar and gave it to Justin. The picture of the two together shows the first bit of joy on Justins face in about a year.
None of you knew this because McCartney does this sort of thing quietly with no fanfare. Paul McCartney as hs faults but not in my house.
