In a sane world, Obamacare wouldn’t have a chance at being upheld. The fact that it might says volumes on what this country has become. The very idea that a govt can force its citizens to buy something is very foreign to our republic and sets a terrible precedence. If they keep the mandate, then what will be next that they will be allowed to force us to buy? Electric cars? Solar Panels for your homes??? Its a horrible slope to go down, today could make that difference.
It is all irrelevant. Regardless of the outcome, the infrastructure for the program has already been implemented, HHS has written rules and thousands of people have been hired.
No one, especially in an election year is going to rip this thing apart. Obama got what he wanted. He got a damaged program that will be a money suck on the economy.
This entire program was nothing more than Cloward Piven on steroids. While the economy collapses and more people flood a broken system with no controls in place, the wealthy will make a boatload of money while being exempt, the poor will have another free program and the rest of us are going to pay for it till we are either poor, or rich.
In other words, this is the final nail in the coffin of the middle class.
I fear a requirement to purchase term life insurance, naming the U.S. Treasury as the beneficiary. That would comport neatly with the decisionmaking “logic” of the coming death panels of Obamacare.
