Democrat legislators - cheered on by the MSM - induced tort lawyers to extract a “yearly payment in perpetuity” from the major tobacco companies.
How did the tobacco companies respond?
Easy...
They just sent the “tax bill” straight through to their customers.
The legislators were thrilled...
They got new “tax” money, but they didn’t have to vote on a politically damaging “tax” increase.
The lawyers were thrilled...
They got a perpetual percentage of the new tobacco “tax.”
The Democrat Party was thrilled...
They got a perpetual kickback from the tort lawyers.
