And the real problem is boldly stated. Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die. Until everybody agrees to give back their own handouts nothing will be done. Yes SS is a handout a few years after retirement. Most people get back what they paid in very quickly, the next 15 years of retirement is handouts. Nothing turns a tea partier into a statist more than advocating cutting their Social Security and Medicaire. Since these two make up a huge percentage of Federal outlays, everything else is sophistry. We have met the enemy and the enemy is us.
Give me back the money you collected for my retirement and health care and we’ll call it a deal. I’m not retired yet but don’t intend to take it in the shorts from some idiot libertarian with no sense of right and wrong.
Cut all the crap that does not belong in government and all the benefits paid to people of the US and world who did not pay for them, then talk to me about the wisdom of stealing my retirement money.
