In defense of Jefferson.
During the early years of our country there was no such thing as a school system and he tried to get us to become an educated country (verses how Europe and the rest of the world relied exclusively on the Educated Rich).
Jefferson saw a school in every settlement and every child educated such that they would develop our country from the “Roots” up and not from the “Top Down”.
Where’s the silver lining in the umbra and penumbras of Chief Injustice Roberts ruling? I want my Silver Lining!
Let’s assume obama wants to destroy this nation. And I believe that is fact. What other reason could there be? His talking point is those who choose not to have insurance shouldn’t get healthcare paid for by those who do. Then he exempts illegal aliens and they’re the ones who fill up the hospital emergency rooms. But do all the democrats who pass anything this guy puts in front of them want to destroy it, too?
He gets everything he wants. And all the democrats march to his drum. And the republicans seem afraid to scream the obvious. From where does he get his power?
Don't believe in any silver linings until you actually see them with your own eyes.
Oh, and to answer your question, there is no silver lining in this travesty.
By declaring himself King. This black is our self proclaimed communists dictator. And he will have bought enough ignorant Americans combined with fraudulent election will win another term. If happens I see CWII on its way.
The only silver lining is that the scales are falling off of a lot of eyes and secession is being given the consideration it deserves as a viable alternative to collectivism.
HA....my husband suggested last week that maybe we should consider going to the VET for OUR medical services.
Lawyers and congress have screwed up America’s laws so bad that for every law there is an opposite law or ways of legally getting around the law.
This statement is wrong in a very important respect. It should more properly read:
The Constitution, negotiated 225 years ago this summer in Philadelphias Independence Hall, provided for a limited national government.
The difference eludes the author and is critical to understanding what plagues us today. The guarantor of limited government was not the Supreme Court or even the Constitution per se. In the American Republic the guarantor of limited government was the sovereignty of the states. Power divided is power constrained. And until the original balance is restored and the primary governing powers returned to the states we will continue our descent into tyranny.
“From where does he get his power?”
He just took it the same way Hitler did. No one stopped Hitler and no one will stop Hussein.
Got water and food stored?
Great Idea! I'll bet that more dogs will be adopted and it'll be tough to get your "dogs" an appointment.
I disagree, Trek...
No argument on adding the word “national” if you like.. yes, the constitution was written to lay out the rules for the national government because that body did not have power over the states regarding their state governments.
Still... All the founders believed in limited government at all levels. Too many “modern federalists” believe that the states - as “laboratories of democracy” (a term that makes me gag) were not necessarily to be limited in size and scope, so we could compare between big government states and small government states and see what works best.
Humbug.
In fact, the Founding generation expected all levels of government to be greatly limited. They expected state and local government to be even smaller than the national... they just concentrated so hard on limiting the national because they thought that was where the greatest risk to freedom lay.
They didn’t envision an era in which they most tyrannical dictators would be city, county and state governments too.
JFD
I hope he meets the same ending as Adolph
Only until 2016, when Obama runs for his third term, and pets have been given the right to vote.
Mussolini’s would be better.
But the fundamental check on state, local and municipal government is the ability of the citizens to move. You see this today in California. The folly of any one state or municipality is limited by the reasonableness of the others, unless the naional government intervenes and uses the resources of the wise to relieve the foolish of the consequences of their foolishness. There is real competition here.
At a national level there is no such recourse. That is why the greatest threat to liberty by far comes from the national government.
