Alternator Belt Cut on Romney Bus

The Romney team today confirmed grass-roots reports that a campaign bus was sabotaged by an unknown vandal over the weekend.

The bus, which was being used for campaign events but not transporting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was parked in Richmond, Va., when the vehicle was tampered with late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

A Romney campaign official told PJM that the alternator belt was cut. Repairs were under way Monday to get the bus back on the road for a voter registration event in Springfield, Va., from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Springfield Metro Commuter Lot.

A “Moms for Mitt” mobile phone bank that had been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. this morning in Leesburg, Va., had to be canceled because of the disabled bus.

The only way to get the SS to guard the bus would be to stock it with prostitutes; then they might pay attention.

What about the underside?

I might have OVERlooked that one.

My only question is when will Mitt get complete Secret Service protection?

I am not sure as the “presumptive” candidate he is qualified for it. But, if he is then shouldn't this act of domestic terrorism be investigated?

Oh, yes that's right Mitt and all other republicans aren't entitled to equal protection under the law as it is administered by the liberal/progressive/socialist/democratic Justice Department.

Well, looks the poor guys can’t be in two places at once! They can’t be out party-ing with hookers AND still protect a Presidential candidate!

This could be considered a minor incident now, but the Romney people had better beef up campaign security because the Obamaton opposition is capable of many times worse. Remember they play by Chicago rules.

Ain’t that the truth! I always took apart bicycles and derailleurs when I was little and my father gave me advice and brought home axle grease grease for me from his factory he owned. My family made things

From all that we have moved to a paper shuffling, computer gazing, video game playing life for youths

In 1968, the Democratic National Convention was in Chicago, and the putative nominee Robert Kennedy was assassinated. Chicago rules are not to be regarded lightly.

I wonder of Romney is still going to keep saying Obama is a nice guy with incidents such as this?

They did invite Romney to tag along, but he wasn’t interested for some reason. So it’s his fault.

Yea, I have vivid memories of working on bicycles, starting in 4th grade, with my buddy showing me how to repack the (loose) ball bearings (my dad was useless). Two years later it was taking the head off our lawn mower. And then on to cars by about 9th grade, to the point of running my own business working on cars in 11th grade (an old neighbor carried me through that learning curve). Along with way, I picked up plumbing, electrical work, AC work, and as an adult, concrete work, basic framing, and a few other skills.

Needless to say, I passed all of that on to my kids and made damn sure that they understand in tomorrow’s world, it’s those skills that will separate living in poverty from living middle class (just as in today’s world, one can live a couple of classes up from most people in one’s salary range, by just not having to pay ‘the man’).

lol.... same here on bikes. Repacking wheel hub bearings with axle grease. Tightening spokes to true up wheels. But you went on to lawnmowers and automobiles at a young age. Me, living in an apartment was not in a situation to work on lawnmower and cars. But we both got our hands dirty and sharpened our mechanical inclinations. We both know boys don’t this as much these days.

I had to caulk and paint my dad’s wood hulled boat every two years. I could not get my nephew to help me with yard work and hedge trimming when he visited. His logic is after college he’ll make enough to get people to do all that “peasant work” for him. Fine but at least do it to see how it is for others and to appreciate nature. I know he never fixed a bike or did an oil change on a car. Just like that effete pos Kenyan in the White House

You are implying a connection between the Chicago convention and the Bobby Kennedy assassination that seems to be pretty much of a stretch.

Kennedy was assassinated in early June in Los Angeles, on the night of his California primary victory. The purported assassin was Sirhan Sirhan, an Arab who supposedly killed Kennedy because Bobby was pro-Israel. It's almost impossible to connect the assassination to Chicago or the Daley machine or "traditional" organized crime.

The convention took place in Chicago in late August, and was punctuated by violent street clashes between radical left demonstrators, protesting the nomination of establishment candidate and Vice President Hubert Humphrey, and Daley's Chicago police force outside the convention hall.

Doesn’t The Secret Service have the responsibility of maintaining the security of the bus? Were they out partying? This is serious, especially after the dim a-holes were running the video last month of Romney’s bus exploding.

My intuitive take is that the Secret Service has responsibility for Romney and his family's personal physical protection. But since Romney himself was nowhere near the vandalized bus at the time of the incident, nor had planned to ride on the bus, it was not within the scope of the Secret Service's mandate. Rather, the likely problem was insufficient security within the campaign itself.

You sir are correct. Obama’s buses get SS protection. Not Romney’s. My guess

Pretty sure this bus parked over night at a local Holiday Inn. Saw it pull it, got kind of excited for a bit that maybe Gov. Romney was aboard. But no secret service contingent was traveling with the bus.

But I got a pic of the bus at least :)
