Average teachers make 44 grand. That is awful. Boy you would think that they made a million according to some one here. By time you take out taxes, they are bringing home MAYBE 1500 every two weeks....not much to live on.

What teachers are paid is irrelevent to me. What they are doing to our kids with their far left, antichrist derangement is what matters.

The main thing you can do is push for 28 students per class room (instead of 17). That can’t read anyway and math is an unknown to these dummies. . That will reduce these baby sitting teachers by 12% state wide and save a billion dollars now wasted.
Then push for immunity from prosecution if the school uses certified disciplinarians with video and witnesses so we can swat these little hellions with no law suits and you will see improvement over night!!!

I do not think they make a million but they do pretty well in my area. Starting salary for a teacher in my local school district was $41,590 in 2008-09 school year. Per capita income for my county is around $23K and median family income is around $48K. $41,590 for a 23 year old just out of school is pretty good money especially considering they are being paid for working 9 months or so of the year.

Maybe not much to live on, as you say, but my nephew just retired at 60 after 30 years as a high school teacher. His retirement is $84K per year, plus fully paid healthcare.

Forgot to add that the only reason his pension is so low (!!) is that he opted for the smaller amount so his wife will continue to receive it for her lifetime should he die first.
