There was a restaurant in Albuquerque named “The M&J Sanitary Tortilla Factory” (It was THAT old), which had a race-track style tortilla chip fryer. It had paddle wheels and conveyor belts feeding the chips in and out of the machine. The lady who owned the restaurant told me that some of the atomic scientists designed it on napkins in her restaurant.
They had the BEST chili reillenos! Closed now.
Not to my knowledge. They would have probably said something over the years as I visited with my mom almost every year. They were pretty wild around Alamo. I have a cousin who was raised in Alamo that was married to the guy who detonated the balloon that Colonel Joe Kittinger jumped from at around 75,000 feet. They needed it to implode so it didn’t drift away from White Sands.
How thrilling to have family that have ties to great events in history.
