arms...discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. ...Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived the use of them. -- Thomas Paine
We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry

I think the grassroots surge by American gun owners against this treaty
convinced our government to not sign this document, Gottlieb said.

Why isn’t this reported anywhere else?

Why isnt this reported anywhere else?Morale would go down. And a "proper response" is probably being penned right now.
Celebrate!
It will be reported, sooner or later.
It's too big of an issue not to be.

Not really. They want more time to think about it. 6 months (after the election).

(after the election).
A whole lot of things are being put off until then, aren't they.

Do NOT celebrate, keep up your guard.I'm doing
both!
You do recognize what a huge "you blinked" moment this is, don't you?
The message of "we'll wait until after the election to do anything" is a blatant admission, though it'll never be admitted, that this was all nothing more than political theater.
There have been plenty of treaties that have been signed on to before all of the details had been worked out.
Not getting tagged as "gun grabbers", especially right before an election, was of more importance than the treaty.
And nobody was supposed to notice the other gun control BS in the cyber security bill (of all things) and the talking points will be "we supported 2nd Amendment rights by not signing this treaty" while efforts are once again going on "under the radar". Well, they got caught coming and going.
Don't forget, this timetable was set in 2010!
U.S AGREES TO TIMETABLE FOR U.N. GUN BAN 1/12/2010
And no agreement on the particulars was made in all that time?
Yeah, right!
The UN just got punked and made to look the fool by this administration!

I can't stress this enough. - Don't forget, this timetable was set in 2010!
Democrats were so sure that they would win the mid term elections that they purposely set the vote for this exact time of year!
They expected and planned to sign this treaty and quickly shove it through Congress with no problems so they could tout it as an election boon.
"We kept our promise to move on gun control."
