Countering Chick-fil-A, Amtrak and other firms bask in gay pride, and gay dollars
The New York Daily News ^ | August 4, 2012 | Victoria Cavaliere

Posted on 08/04/2012 6:23:36 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

You better think twice, Chick-fil-A: The same week that the fast food chain faced criticism over its president’s opposition to same-sex marriage, the train company unveiled a new campaign targeting gay and lesbian customers.

The same week that controversy erupted over Chick-fil-A’s opposition to same-sex marriage, Amtrak unveiled a marketing campaign aimed at its gay and lesbian clientele.

The “Ride With Pride” program promotes “extremely gay-friendly” destinations, including California wine country and Martha’s Vineyard.

“It makes good business sense to target a population that is a friend of the rails, a friend of rail travel,” said Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole, who was unsure how many tickets were sold through the promotion.

The initiative was rolled out around the same time restaurant chain Chick-fil-A made national headlines after president Dan Cathy said the company is "guilty as charged" of opposing same-sex marriage.

Fallout for Chick-fil-A continues to be mixed, but even as Cathy stands behind his polarizing remarks, other companies are making a concerted effort to court gay and lesbian customers.

Kraft Foods posted a photo of a rainbow-hued Oreo cookie to its Facebook page in June -- earning 2,000 comments and the threat of a boycott.

That same month, Target’s website began selling t-shirts with rainbows and slogans like “harmony” and “pride” as part of a fundraiser to support a marriage equality group.

Even formerly conservative companies are opening their marketing camapaigns to gay and lesbian customers, whose buying power is expected to reach $790 billion this year, marketing firm Witeck Communications told the Los Angeles Times.

Hotel mega-chain Marriott International, which once had Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney as a corporate board member, this spring launched a massive campaign targeting gay travelers. The "Be You, With Us," is widely promoted on the corporate website, which also declares “We’re proud to say Marriott was one of the first hotel companies to offer equal benefits to same-sex couples nationwide.”

So far, Amtrak said it hasn’t seen any backlash to the “Ride With Pride” campaign.

“Our policy is to welcome all segments of the population,” Cole said.

Three percent of the population spends almost a trillion dollars a year? I call bullsh*t on that one! And isn't Amtrak supported by our tax dollars?

Yes.

It was either a colossal success, or a stupendous success.

Amtrak News [mentioned on FR, but I didn't search]

Amtrak's losses in food and beverage service totaled $833 million during the last 10 years, he said. "It costs passengers $9.50 to buy a cheeseburger on Amtrak, but the cost to Amtrak is $16.15 each. Riders pay $2 for a Pepsi, but it costs Amtrak $3.40 to serve each of these sodas."

Even with our tax dollars and support from the gay 2% of the population, Amtrak can't even make a profit on a $9.50 vending machine burger in a plastic wrapper and a $2.00 can of Pepsi. The corruption behind their food business must be monumental!

So Amtrak is promoting "ride with pride" to Martha's Vineyard (an island)?

Yes, and since Chic Fil A, people - like us - are paying more attention to who we do business with.

Personally, I'll drive miles out of my way to avoid a pro-pervert, pro-NAMBLA institution, and miles out of my way to support a pro-natural, pro-child institution.

I talk the talk, and I walk the walk. Now, more than ever, actions and money matter to these business.

Please pass on to your family and friends the noble business's in your area, and encourage them to shop there, and alert them to those who support the boy molesting, disease spreading side of the isle.

In 1980, I was with a Republican group that rode by train from Los Angeles to Detroit for the Republican National Convention. Someone running the group must have thought that going by train rather than plane would be a nostalgic re-enactment of the whistle-stop campaigns of yore, but it turned out to be a nightmare.

As we rode through the Midwest's worst heat wave since 1936, the air conditioning broke down--of course, the cars were designed to be air-conditioned, so naturally, the windows wouldn't open. As a result, passengers bought beer to try to stay cool, and the train soon ran out. During an extended stop in La Junta, Colo., passengers mobbed the town's liquor store in what became a near-riot--I was in the thick of the mob and one of the first to buy a can of suds.

The train was 14 hours late getting to our destination and 12 hours late getting back. For some reason, I've never since taken Amtrak anywhere.

Hotel mega-chain Marriott International

Oh. I'll have to pass this one on to my brother. He's a head hunter for a major, world wide corporation. I'll bet that corporation - who's head quarters is in a conservative district - has used this one.

Oh yeah. Time to turn the lights out for that place. Time for the locals to put some pressure on this corporation to avoid the Marriot like a plague.

I'd be proud to get this started. It's for a good cause.

Excuse me, I’m just a stupid “breeder”, but just when did drinking wine and walking on the beach become exclusively for homosexuals only?

My wife and I are terribly disappointed. We’ll drive our minivan to the Blue Ridge & take our bourbon straight if that’s what it takes. Who needs Amtrak!?

The whole issue going on with Chick-fil-A shows that support for same-sex marriages is a LOT less than what the MSM claims. I mean outside of the Northeast and West Coast, same-sex marriages are still not popular among voters.

Discretionary income and spending is one of the attractions and benefits of homosexual lifestyle; travel and tourist industry recognized that a long time ago. Also, time not spent on raising kids translates into prolonged educational activity, so a more sustained climb to higher income ( especially in comparison to working mothers). But ,hey, why preserve even a sliver of advantage to the people who do the work of projecting the next generation into the future under the auspices of marriage ? If we ever get into the demographic problems when we get into the demographic problems that societies like Japan, France and Russia are in, the government can pay people to have kids.

Yeah, but no one rides this train anyway. How would they ever know?
It's been less than a week. 4 days. Nobody rode, so nobody left, therefore the homo campaign was a success? LOL!

I think they should go more public with this. I think they should paint a HUGE rainbow on the side of the train, with "NAMBLA.com" written under it.
If they were truly supportive of homos, they'd make their support loud and clear.

Let's rally the train company, and demand they do this in the name of tolerance and diversity. Let's force them not only out - but WAY out. Then we can see how much of a success this homo campaign really is! Hiding these campaigns in the closet hoping no one will notice just isn't good enough.

Notice how the homno connections are never advertised on TV or put up on billboards. "We're here, we're pro-queer, shop at our place today."

Remember when Brawny paper towels tried a campaign using two homosexual partners to sell their products? Man, they shut that campaign down overnight. No one bought their "gay" paper towels. They had to go back to the real man character they usually used. It hurt the company really bad.

Amtrak, being a government entity, must follow every single government reg religiously. In addition, it doesn’t help when the guy doing the serving is making $80-100 bucks an hour, when you include bene’s, NOT including per diems, lodging, etc.

Add in the costs of things like gov-mandated minority-sourced purchasing, yada, yada, and it’s not hard to understand how the costs skyrocket.

I read an article on Amtrak a few years ago that said by the time a roll of toilet paper makes it in to an on-train bathroom, it’s cost is something like $5 A ROLL.

It's really not all that popular amongst the voters in the NE and West either. Every time it's put to a referendum it goes down to defeat by huge margins, even in tree hugging Oregon. If you check the states where it's legal, that's all been done by unelected black robes imposing it on the rest of us. It is popular with the politicians because homosexuals have bucks and they're single issue voters, so politicians love to pander to them.

Front pocket, next to the “equipment”, probably not a good idea.

Back pocket next to the, well you know, probably not.

Breast pocket, don't be silly.

From now on those Gay Dollars go inside the Man Purse. I want my Dollars working, not screwing around.

Chick-Fil-A does not now, nor has it ever, discriminated against anyone. As usual, the ministry of propaganda misrepresents the policies of the company. It's a private, family owned company. The company's Christian policies, along with the fact that it's making a profit, has brought the wrath of leftists down upon it.

On the other hand, the new advertising scheme to attract gay couples at Amtrack will be taxpayer funded. Has Amtrack ever turned a profit, let alone broken even? As such, every expense that Amtrack racks up will be born by the taxpayer, or by the lenders who are allowing our government to spend roughly $1 for every .60 in revenues. The fact that the government simply can't run a railroad that can break even makes it a favorite of leftists everywhere. And if they can offend Christians using taxpayers money, all the better.

Very little coverage this week, except for a couple of plays on C-Span, of a presser by a group of black ministers who are forming a group to raise money and inform the public about Obama’s support for gay marriage and their opposition to him because of it - J.C. Penney’s flirtation with gays last spring didn’t seem to last very long, and I can’t help but think that these companies will eventually offend and put off more people than they’ll attract with their romancing gays, at best five percent of the population including their rabid supporters.....

Noticed an article re Office Depot’s financial support of “Born That Way” Foundation to the tune of at least $1M. Seems that the money is to be used for school supplies and psychotherapy intervention for children “born that way” which results in their being bullied by others. Did have it confirmed by Office Depot in an email to me. Cut our Office Depot credit card up and sent it back with a letter that they can support whomever they choose and our business chooses not to buy anything from them in the future.
