Manned space travel makes for a nice show. However, until we exhaust the capabilities of remote probes, there’s no reason to continue manned.
Unless private companies think they can make a buck with it.
Humanity must inhabit extraterrestrial space or perish on the Earth and become extinct sooner rather than later. Unmanned space exploration is just another tool for the mandatory human habitation of extraterrestrial space. Finding illusory excuses for limiting the exploration of space to unmanned missions in the short-term or long-term is nothing less than self-destructive for humanity.
