Gay marriage activists are planning to swarm Starbucks on Tuesday in an attempt to counter the record sales from last weeks Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.
The chicken chain enjoyed a surge of support during the Wednesday event, dreamed up by former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee after Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy went on the record backing the biblical definition of the family unit.
A follow-up protest from Chick-fil-A critics on Friday, which was dubbed Same Sex Kiss Day, was more subdued.
Advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights are trying again Tuesday with National Marriage Equality Day, initiated by Equally Wed, a lesbian and gay wedding magazine. So far, nearly 28,000 people have signed up to attend.
The event was originally called National Starbucks Appreciation Day in honor of the coffee giant, which recently threw its support behind efforts to make gay marriage legal.
But several other holidays exist with the same name, including one created by gun rights groups. Starbucks corporate offices had nothing to do with those events nor with Tuesdays planned gatherings....

Screw Starbucks!
I hope they drown in their homosexual coffee!
“Is “more subdued” the new term for epic fail?”
Why not a sit-in in Mom’s basement? They spend all their time THERE too...what a blow to Chick-Fil-A ... Starbucks being such a big competitor of theirs...
HOW STUPID CAN THESE “COFFEE PARTY” DOOFUS’S GET?
It will be a good day for me to patronize “It’s a Grind” coffee house.
People who know nothing about business are embarrassing themselves again.......
Haven’t been to a Starbucks in over a year, nor will I ever go back. Their support for gay marriage is one big reason, but their over priced, over valued coffee simply isn’t worth it.
My Eight-0-Clock Italian Roast beats anything they have to offer, and is a lot less expensive to boot.
Much better to find and patronize local coffee merchants. My favorite in Gloucester County, VA is a roadside place owned and operated by a Tea Party patriot. She can make anything Starbucks can concoct, and at a much better price.
So, I will assume everyone I see at Starbucks tomorrow is queer!
Funny that they would pick Starbucks....all the reports I’ve heard about CFA (there’s no CFA in my town) is that they run a clean, tidy ship. Clean restaurant, clean lot, etc. It made me think of my local Starbucks—I have to tip-toe through trash and spilled/dumped beverages to get to the front door. I can’t imagine that the surrounding businesses appreciate it.
My guess is that Starbucks that day will see an average increase in sales of 5 coffees per store. Each store will also see its free wi-fi performance throttled as many of its regular take-out customers don’t leave, but hang around tweeting their self-righteousness.
There. Fixed.
Their right to free speech, and to support a business. I will personally stick to my morning cup of Folgers.
I quit going to *$ a long time ago....too pricey and snotty service. My Keurig has served me well and a little ice and coffee in my blender make a nice frappe ( sometimes with some chocolate ice cream thrown in just because)
LOL! I’ll be in disguise. There isn’t a local Boise coffee house less liberal than Starbucks.
Errr; did the coffee giant experience the biggest sales spike in brand history? Or, was it just another ‘drooler’?
I wonder if they realize that we like Starbucks, too, because they allow open and concealed carry...
Yes, “more subdued”, “subtle and quiet protest” and other such expressions have now replaced “disaster” and “epic fail” in the gay lexion.
What is funny is that Starbucks has distanced themselves from the event, and their HQ has asked that it NOT be called “Starbucks Appreciation Day”. They have requestd that gay advocates list also the many other companies that were stupid enough to get behind them. Very clear to me that Starbucks is less than thrilled with the rainbow crowd. Wait - Didn’t we just have an ‘Appreciate Starbucks Firearms Policy Day’... or something...
Here’s one problem with this: Chick-Fil-A’s food tastes good. Starbuck’s coffee tastes like crap!
Only those with cream in their coffee.
