I have a confession to make: I watch a lot of TV, and Im not going to pretend that all or even most of it is educational. This would hardly be considered unusual except that Im a serious political person who does serious political work and people like us arent supposed to admit that we watch a good amount oflets face ittrashy TV. The way I look at it, we all need a little fluff in our lives, especially after a day spent reading and writing about the decline of Western civilization. And as the cliché goes: if you cant beat them, join them.

Here are a few examples Ive collected:
Although there are many more such instances I could come up with, Ill leave it at that and stick to current offerings from here on. I hope PJ Media readers will tune inpun intendedfor future musings on the subject. What better way to watch TV guilt-free?
You are so right, SmithL! I’ve noticed that too, and I have to say I have a bit of couch potato in me and I too, watch a lot of t.v. I’ll keep track of things I see; with the new season coming up, there should be plenty of opportunities.
For example, I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer (reruns), but the show was very anti-gun.
For more modern shows, I love Castle, Revenge and NCIS. NCIS, however, is a more patriotic show. Supernatural is great (both men are easy on the eyes, LOL!) ANTM is very interesting; I’m not sure why. :) The same goes for Hell’s Kitchen.
One summer show I miss is something called “I survived a Japanese Game Show.” It was hysterical! :)
So I’ll keep my eyes peeled. You’re right, there is definitely a leftist slant, which shouldn’t be surprising. I love to write and took several screenwriting courses; if you didn’t lean left, embrace the gay agenda (”Not that there’s anything wrong with that”, *bows to Jerry Seinfeld), or oppose guns, there was something wrong with you. There is a lot of peer pressure in the film/t.v. world, and I only caught a small glimpse of it.
I think you can be political and informed and still watch television. :) Thanks for this post—it’s an interesting topic. :)
p.s.: The Day After Tomorrow. I love that movie but it is complete global warming propaganda.
I hate to admit, but with 2 teenage daughter, i have gotten hooked on The Kardashians—yikes, what’s wrong with me. It’s very entertaining for some strange reason that I can’t explain.
I like Bones. For instance in the first season they are all discussing Christmas. Bones goes on about not believing in God, but Booth argues with her. When she says to her boss something along the lines of “back me up on this” he says “you’re wrong. I’m a deacon in my church.” One episode, they have a muslim die in a car bomb. They question his brother and he claims to be a Christian. They figure out he is a terrorist and that Bones flat out says that the Muslim guy believes that its ok to lie to infidels in the pursuit of jihad. It was awesome to me because the muslim was not a fluffy bunny but a terrorist and they were not afraid to say so.
