I’ve lived in DC for 20 years (save three) and I’ve worked in politics for ten of those. I’ve had the experience of working with a lot of real true-blue America loving conservatives and I’ve also had to work with democrats. Several of them were close to Hillary and I can tell you that if she thought the ticket was a winner, she would have taken the job. Given the fact that Obama is a miserable failure, I predicted that she would leave in 2011, write a book and run against that guy that her husband felt should be getting them coffee.
I think she missed her opportunity and she doesn’t want more of this administration hung over her shoulders than already is. Unless Joe takes a trip to Ft Marcy Park, she’ll have to wait.

I was expecting her to leave the Regime earlier than that. E.g., she could have resigned in indignation at the Regime's outrageous treatment of Honduras during its 2009 constitutional crisis. Then write the book, give speeches, and mount a primary challenge in 2012. But that's not what she did.

For some fun reading, check out Ed Klein's recent book The Amateur. Scroll forward to the prolog, entitled "As Bill Sees It, Chappaqua, New York, August 2011".
