The money was spent, all that is left is a pile of IOUs which you expect my kids and grandkids to pay.
I'm sorry, but there is no money left for the victims of Madoff nor the victims of FDR. Ponzi schemes always leave lots of victims. The evil solution is to continue the ponzi schemes that are SocSec and Medicare as they are.
Some of the losers are folks who paid in, but some are recent immigrants who paid little or nothig. And as far as medicare goes, nobody paid in enough to cover two hip transplants and a couple of bypasses.
If Karl needs a hip replacement, I'm sure he's saved for it.
This is a complicated situation, and an argument that nobody should lose any benefits is a simplistic and unrealistic position to take if you want it resolved.
I’m not sure if we are going to be able to avoid the big collapse, which I sense might be coming sooner than we imagine. The only solution is a Kamikaze President and congress with the balls to tell the American people “We’re broke!” and make these fundamental reforms, regardless of their chances for political re-election.
Since we know our politicians have no balls, the collapse is inevitable. But the collapse, if it does not kill us, or if our enemies in Russia and China do not take advantage of it, will make us stronger.
