As a Catholic who has been involved with the church, and who worked for a Catholic hospital for many years it has been my experience that the clergy has been considerably more liberal than the parishioners. The monks who ran the Hospital I worked for lived in a communal house and took a vow of poverty. It isn't hard to sell socialism to a group like that. But by forcing them to confront the abortion issue head on Obama made a mistake. The Alexian Brothers are men of principle. They will close the doors before they violate those principles.

Thank you for repeating what I have been saying for years now. Every time I bring up this FACT, I get labeled a Catholic basher or something worse. The Church, IMO, has been hard left for decades now. I know there are individuals and certain Bishops that are not, but the leadership is stuck on getting more foodstamps and welfare more than pro life and anti sodomites. If you are in a small parish in the boonies, you probably feel right at home as a conservative, but go to church in the city, and see the difference. There is NO DOUBT, they are pushing liberal ideas.

How a Catholic can say they are Catholic and not see that Dems give them abortion, sodomy, anti God, anti Bible, pro illegal alien, anti Israel rhetoric, and then vote for the Dems is beyond me.

Many times I have asked right here, where are the Bishops and cardinals that have come out against Obama and i get a few oped pieces thrown at me. What is being said at church? Very little, IMHO. Where is the outrage at Obama Care forcing the hospitals to pay for abortions? They will point to a lawsuit, but there should be outrage in the pews. All of this is because the liberal priests. bishops and cardinals want the welfare and unemployment to keep rolling in.

How else can we explain Boston, NYC and others supporting Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, et al? The movers and shakers in the Church are libs and we have covered our eyes for too long. There needs to be church discipline, but the church sees nothing to discipline. This has to come from higher up.

Good post, and I think that the Catholic vote for Obama nationally, will be the reverse of what it was in 2008, with a couple of points to spare.
