To me it means the writer hates the rich more than he/she loves the poor....but your take is very good as well.

When I read what the Wookie said, and compare it to the quote from Alinsky in context, it seems she’s twisted what he said 180 degrees. He seems to be arguing we need to work with the world as it is, and she’s saying the opposite.
