By Focusing on the Economy, We Are Ignoring Much Bigger Problems

People who obsess about the Islamist military threat always seem to assume that if America

That would not be me. I know they can inflict damage but they can not destroy us, only we can do that, and we are well on our way.

Every word a gem, FGS. So few Americans see beneath the rhetoric. And the rhetoric is repeated so often that we accept it as truth. At the same time, the real and important issues lie somewhere beneath the surface, and only those who are willing to root them out, and employ some intelligent analysis, have any real idea where this country is headed.

Our television screens and newspapers are filled with cliched buzzwords that are part of a pre-ordained script, and the majority of the populace simply parrot those thoughts without giving them any real analysis. The superficiality, and deceit, of it all is killing us every bit as much as anything our ideological enemies are throwing at us.

We talk about the symptoms (scarcity of jobs, reduction in household income, lack of consumer spending, business and manufacturing slowdowns, and the like) and completely overlook the underlying disease (the incremental erosion of our liberties).
