The real problem today is that Northwest merged with Delta and Continental merge with United. A Northwest-Continental Airline could have been good especially for frequent flyers.

Instead we got the new Delta which took the worse from old Delta and dumped the best from Northwest and we got the new United which took the worse from United and imposed it on the re-organized and improving Continental.
