GOP Suing to Keep Third Parties Off Ballot in November

"Around the country, the Republican Party is mounting legal challenges to keep third-party candidates off the ballot in November.

Writer Karl Dickey reports in the Examiner that “in recent weeks, with the full support and legal assistance of the Republican Party, [Gary] Johnson's ballot status has been challenged in Michigan, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Iowa and now Ohio." Gary Johnson (pictured) is the former governor of New Mexico and the Libertarian Party’s candidate for president of the United States. As of this writing, Johnson is on the ballot in 43 states."

And let’s all toast to having a US president who will actually sign the legislation that the above described 2013 Congress (and its even better 2015 Congress) passes.

Do really believe that Mitt Romney is investing all this time and money to enact someone else's agenda? If most of the Republicans in Congress wouldn't aggressively fight Obama, why do you expect that they will fight a President of their own party? In all likelihood, Romney will be calling the tune and the Republicans in Congress will dance to that tune.

You really do need to reread (or read for the 1st time if that’s your situation) the United States Constitution. It’s Congress that passes bills and it’s the President who either signs those bills into law or instead vetoes them. The President does not present Congress with bills for it to sign. I’m, of course, aware that Congress takes input from the executive branch just as it does from various potentially impacted parties.

The bottom line is that we are on the way toward having significantly more conservatives among the Republicans in Congress (in both the House and in the Senate) and we’re on our way toward Republican control of both parts of that body. And it is my hope/dream that the Republicans in both the House and the Senate will be having a leadership that has a substantially more conservative slant than is the case today.

The bottom line is that a President Romney would be signing the bills that the new Congress passes and that a President Obama (God help us all) would be frequently vetoing many bill that he doesn’t like. Any resulting adverse impacts on our nation would be blamed by Obama and the main stream media on the Republican Congress. And that situation would continue up to the 2014 election where I think it would likely have an adverse impact upon that election.

I’m, of course, aware that Congress takes input from the executive branch just as it does from various potentially impacted parties.

You make it sound like the President is just some bit player in this scenario. Other "impacted parties" don't have veto power. Members of Congress generally don't run on a unified agenda (The Contract with America being an exception). The President does. A President Romney will have his allies in Congress drafting bills to his pleasure. The final bill will be modified but it will be primarily Romney's bill.

As Romney showed in Massachusetts, he and his people are very adept at writing bills which can be supported by Democrats and RINOs. If the conservatives in Congress create a problem for Romney, look for him to form a left-of-center coalition and freeze out the Tea Party by rallying Democrats and RINOs which will still make up the ideological majority in Congress.

We seriously need a Tea Party nominee next round.

There's a high probability that there won't be a next round with either Obama or Willard at the helm. Both are big government statists. More government isn't the answer, it remains the problem. A true conservative candidate willing to fight like a junkyard dog for this nation wouldn't be concerned with a third party threat.
