Guns are so expensive, I don't know how you guys have so many. My Ruger revolver a few months ago, ate up a $500 bill. I already had a Colt 38 special that is many years old, belonged to my husband, so don't know how much that one cost.
Are gun companies raising prices because people want guns?
I recently purchased a S&W 38 chiefs special for my CC gun. Love the feel of it and will fit just fine in handbag or waist holster. Set me back about $450. Mr C4E said I done good.
“Are gun companies raising prices because people want guns?”
I am not sure if they are or not. I do know there was a large margin from MSRP and what retailers pay for them. A lot of retailers are seizing the moment to increase their profit. In my opinion that is supply and demand.
I am not a retailer.
Probably. Basic supply and demand.

Higher demand equals higher prices. But if you plan ahead, its not a big deal to accumulate some guns.
Let me simply say this: I live a very frugal lifestyle. I live well below my means, don't spend more than I can knowingly pay off in a month (I pay $0 in "interest on anything) so when I see a "good buy" on something I like or want, I can pull the trigger on it.
My sons (14 & 16) just inherited the S&W M&P15 I bought a few weeks ago to shoot up at grandma and grandpa's. I had zero intent in buying my Rock River Arms when I walked into the store today. I was there for ammo and a case only. When the wife asked what I was thinking about for my upcoming birthday, I pointed at the H&K AR-15 model behind the counter. Price tag: $2,800+ I was asked if I wanted to hold it, so I said sure. Fell in love with the weapon (I've been reading up on that specific model for months now) but couldn't handle the price.
Then I was handed the Rock River LAR15 and really liked it. The fit, quality, etc.. was incredible - I'd say as good as the H&K (or better) and I say that as a complete H&K bigot. The RR LAR15 is only the second non-H&K weapon I've ever purchased.
When we got home, I told the kids the S&W M&P15 Sports was "theirs" when we go up to Michigan. Yes, I teach my kids to shoot, the youngest one is a dead-eye with Grandpa's 308, he can hit a quarter at 100 yards. The older one ain't bad either (but he can't hit the quarter, he gets within an inch, but younger brother has the bragging rights.)
Keep in mind I live 30 miles SW of Chicago here in the People's RepubliK of Illannoyed, so when the SHTF I can at least defend myself on my way OUT of this shithole of a state.
“I don’t know how you guys have so many”
In 1993 soon after Clinton was elected, I could see the writing on the wall, I started buying guns and ammo and have not looked back since!
Prices seem to have been relatively stable this year for both guns and ammunition, owning to an increase in supply as well as demand. Unlike three years ago, ammunition shelves (at least in my region) are heavily stocked and firearms inventories are being replenished even though guns stores are clearly doing a brisk business.
An old saw states that a good handgun always costs about one ounce of gold.
Prices aren’t going up, the value of a buck is plummeting.
