Tonight begins the Jewish New Year, 5773. I wish all of my readers a sweet and blessed new year. Thank you for all of your emails and cards wishing me l'shana tova.
An Atlas reader reminded me that we blow the shofar each year to spiritually awaken us. I try to do the same every day. Each one of us do the same. You must call attention to the dangers around the world and wake up your family, friends, co-workers, from our complacent stupor. There are dark days ahead; each one of us must be armed with the truth. There is much more I could say but we will leave it at that (time to make the kugel).
May G-d give us the strength and resolve to continue in these increasingly dark times. Pray for the good. And have the courage of your convictions.

The Rosh Hashannah New Year often is mistakenly considered the birth day of the Creation of the world, which actually started six days earlier.
Prayers over the two-day holiday, highlighted with the blowing of the shofar, state, “Today is the beginning of the world .”
The birthday actually is that of the creation of man, according to Jewish tradition, and G-d created the world on the 25th of the Hebrew month of Elul, six days before.
G-d created light on the first day, a belief that scientists have confirmed as fact through the “Big Bang” theory, according to American-born Prof. Nathan Aviezer....”

Shalom alekkum. I am Christian but have attended services at synagogues and have been to bar-mitzvahs and bat-mitzvahs and am a friend of the Jews.
I stand with Jews and Israel.

As should all true Christians. There is a reason Israel and Jews are hated by the world and that reason is Satan. The choice should be clear to those who study Scripture.
Some believe that the Christian rapture will happen on Rosh Hashannah, who knows, maybe during this one.
1. All the Spring Feasts were fulfilled at Christ's 1st coming, and on the exact day of the feast. All the Fall Feasts picture the 2nd coming, and Rosh Hashanah is the 1st of the fall feasts, therefore picturing the Rapture.
2. Rosh Hashanah happens on the "new moon", which is 29.5 days after the last one, meaning it might occur on the 29th or 30th day, nobody knows for sure. "Of that day or hour no man knows".
3. In Col 2:16-17 we are told that the new moon and the Feasts of the Lord are a shadow of things to come. Since Rosh Hashanah is the only Feast of the Lord that falls on a new moon, we should take particular note.
No, I'm not saying the Rapture will necessarily take place tomorrow or the day after, although it could. But these comments on Rosh Hashanah are worth thinking about.
