or a former governor whose religion practiced racial discrimination longer than most of the once segregated South.

Gee. So the black "Christians" who this reporter interviewed don't like Romney because of something his religion did historically? Where to start?

First, this is just plain bigotry to vote against someone because of their religion.

Second, Obama's political party practiced a Hell of a lot more racial discrimination in the South -- including forming the KKK as the terrorist wing of the Dem Party to murder and terrorize blacks who voted -- than the Mormons ever did.

Third, what isn't said is that these people really want to vote for Obama because he is black, period. But they are troubled by it because his positions are so anti-Christian.

You miss the point ~ they think God told them to beware of false prophets ~ with false doctrines.

So, they are in a dilemma.

Evangelical voters have been known to just not vote ~ they did it to Pappy Bush ~ of course he also showed disdain for the Republican rank and file anyway.

HE LOST

Mixed feelings. Obviously I want the GOP nominee to get every possible vote, and I hope that a few percentage points of the black electorate turns out for him.

But I’m realistic. I can’t be too “disappointed” when the same portion of the electorate that went 88% for Kerry ‘04 and 95% for Obama ‘08, again votes 90%+ for Obama. I don’t care what color anyone is ... but an awful lot of black voters appear TO care what color the CANDIDATES are.

Brilliant. Four more years of decline seems appropriate to me. Lets teach those Republicans a lesson.

So maybe Black Christians could ask:

Which candidate promotes the Christian principle of fiscal responsibility and living within one's means?

Which candidate promotes the anti-Christian view that one may take by force from his more fortunate neighbor? Or the corollary that successful people deserve derision and punishment?

Which candidate is on YouTube mocking the Christian Bible?

Which candidate is outspokenly and unabashedly in favor of death to the unborn?

Which candidate observes Muslim holidays rather than Christian holidays?

I can think of more, but any Christian minister should do better than I, regardless of the color of their skin.

A few more things the Democrat Party has done for blacks: Slavery. The Confederate States of America. The Ku Klux Klan. Jim Crow and Gun Control. Yup, can’t see any difference, can they?

Where to start indeed.
Historically - so 1978 is so historically - ok.
So then you find it also reprehensible that people may not vote of obama because he is islamic.
mormonism is not Christianity that is what Christians have a problem with, the ignorant public trying to equate them.
And oh the whole “he cried” when the lds god changed his mind about black people, because he did not like the lds god’s policy. Except that even being in the hierarchy of the SLC lds corporation the Romney family did nothing to change it.
Oh I find it interesting you write about the KKK terrorizing black folk and quickly add mormons never did that, you are correct they terrorized everyone.

great post!
-
i like to believe, that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
a Republican, would not vote for the party that booed God,
just because of the color of their candidates skin.
-
liberals boo God... and defend Allah.

“Except that even being in the hierarchy of the SLC lds corporation the Romney family did nothing to change it.”

You should read the 1978 order and read the 3 signatories, Marion G. Romney is Mitt’s dad’s cousin

http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/od/2?lang=eng

...just one of the many facts the MSM would rather not have African Americans find out about.

I can see how signing a piece of paper, the Romney family (second cousin) was really in there demanding change on one of the very foundations of mormonism, better late than never, I guess.
The Romney family was part of the foundational group, some of them in gangs of twelve, live prophets - just saying.

Racism like this is so ugly.

Does it qualify for a thread to be pulled?

Not that it might matter to you, don’t know.

Marion Romney’s teachings on worldS, and the ignorance of Christians (Jan 1973)

“As to man’s relationship to God, Joseph learned from a revelation that the inhabitants of ‘the worlds’ (including those of us on this earth) ‘are begotten sons and daughters unto God.’ (D&C 76:24.)

“These fundamental truths concerning God and man’s relationship to him were not being taught by the churches of Joseph Smith’s day, for the obvious reason that they were neither known nor believed. It is true that they were known and taught and believed by members of the church of Christ in the days of Jesus and his apostles. But in 1830 an understanding of them had long since been lost. It was ignorance of a true knowledge of God and man’s relationship to him that spawned the many churches.

Yep, they beleive it.
