You reminded me of an urban legend, I heard yrs. ago a retired Air Force Col. who was on the board of directors of the Boy Scouts was being interviewed by some bimbo from the BBC about an upcoming BSA jamboree. The Col. explained that some of the events that were planned, softball tournaments, teaching the kids survival skills, and also target shooting tournaments. As soon a he said that, the reporterette interupted whining about how dangerous it is to put a gun in a childs hands. The Col. tried to reason with her explaining that there will be NRA certified instructors present, specially trained to teach gun safety to kids. She then interupted him and stated, when you teach a child to shoot a gun you are making them into potential killers. To which the Col. replied, well ma’am when you first learned about sex, you became a potential prostitute, but you didn’t turn any tricks, have you?

I was shooting a .22 at 12 and a shotgun at 14. I was taught gun safety by my father and didn’t kill myself or turn into a serial killer. I was taught to always point it up and not at anything when I wasn’t firing it. I took my son and trained him how to use a 9mm just the same when he was 15. These pansies that are so against guns have never fired one. You could do much more damage with an automobile than you ever could with a gun yet I don’t hear a thing from them about that.
