I used to hope for reducing government (and the total tax burden) by about 50%, but now it looks like even conservatives have found a way to support more taxes.

I used to like this idea also, but now I just don’t want to see any discussion about raising the tax burden anywhere, for anyone, the discussion is going in the wrong direction, there will not be a trade off, only more taxes.

It's NEARLY unanimous because I for one DON'T believe ALL Americans should pay income tax. I don't think ANY Americans should pay income tax. There, how do you like me now?

I think the income tax and its IRS henchman are heinous, the 16th Amendment should be repealed and we should go to a 10-15% sales flat tax.

I'd much rather they do away with the 16th Amendment and tax consumption.

The 17th Amendment is free to go as well, oh and while we are at it, can we get one placing term limits on Kongress?

The polling results are a brutal rejection of Ronald Reagans policies. He got the ball rolling on relieving ordinary folks from being harrassed with the federal personal income tax.

We really need to do something about that ~ like toss the GOP-e and their running dog lackeys out of the party, and resurrect Reaganism as a goal worth achieving.

IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax)
Liquor Tax
Luxury Taxes
Marriage License TaxMedicare Tax
Property Tax
Real Estate Tax
Service charge taxes
Social Security Tax
Road usage taxes

I think the poor should pay income taxes, especially if they are getting a lot of redistributed money from other workers. They need to have skin in the game too, they need to have some pride knowing they pay income taxes too.

Personally I think nobody should pay taxes on what they earn because it’s an even exchange, and we go back to funding the government by import fees and tariffs, and they can vary by the relationship we have with each particular country.

OK......

But it should be the same percentage, because cold hard mathematics say that is the most fair way to do it...

Bring on a FLAT tax.

I would like to end the Earned Income Tax Credit—it just amounts to welfare. Lots of illegal aliens cashed in on this in 2010.

Yes, and the size of the Federal Government MUST be cut in 1/2.

It is TIME to DownSize DC! Close entire Rogue Departments. Move any worthwhile functions back to the States.

It is TIME to force Congress & Senate to telecommute most of the year. Away from DC and the Lobbyists and under the thumb of the electorate.

IT IS TIME!

the only fair tax is a sales tax...on everything except food.Buy a house....sales tax 1 federal 1 state. No income tax, no cap gains tax...nothing. If you earn a dollar and keep it, it is yours. If, on the other hand, you spend it, the govt. gets a chunk from EVERYBODY.

The nation got along perfectly fine without an income tax for over a hundred years till the progressives got their greasy mitts on us.

No prob if you don’t pay taxes... Of course if you do not, you should not be allowed to vote. Simple solution. Why should people not contributing to the finances have any say over their use? This is just common sense.
