The dia had plenty. aq telegraphed their punches in pretty clear terms. The hijackers were being watched when they ‘suddenly’ went off the radar. What they DID NOT DO was coordinate the intel.
Furthermore, the first thing dot gov did was round up the saudi royals and the bin laden family and give them safe passage out of the country. THIS was covered up all the way from then until now. Those of us who knew were not believed. Now it’s coming out.
In fairness to GWB, this was in motion long before he assumed office. Don’t forget he was hindered from actually starting his presidency by some weeks due to clinton obstacles and had not had time to put his cabinet officers in place. Even after he did, the agencies were still full of clintonistas as they are to this day. Gorelick’s wall was very effective.
Still, it was GWB who assured us that islam was a religion of peace, wasn’t it?

Your intell maybe farther better than mine.

If I recall, at that time the CIA and FBI were not allowed to share info due to some Clinton admin edict. I assume that is the Gorelick wall you are referring to. I couldn’t remember the name.

As I recall, emotions were very high after 9/11. A lot of non-muslim(Indian for example) were being targeted. I have always been of the opinion that he said the “religion of peace” thing was to tamp down violence in the country after a devastating attack when a lot of people were looking for vengence. I could sure be wrong.

Much like he said “go out and shop”. IMHO, that was to keep our economy from falling into the dump. And, miraculosly, it didn’t (not right then, anyway.)

GWB did a lot wrong..but I shudder to think that we could have had Gore or Kerry at the helm. Or God forbid, Obarry at the helm in a similar crisis.
