IN EFFECT, PHASE #1 OF OBAMACARE DEATH PANELS FOR SENIORS!
vanity | Aleya2Fairlie

Posted on 09/30/2012 3:56:18 PM PDT by Aleya2Fairlie

A new phase of Obamacare will penalize hospitals if they re-admit Medicare patients at a rate that the government oversight panel deems excessive. Their premise,a strictly financially based one, is that this will minimize waste and fraud.

In reality, it will minimize the survival rate of many seniors in the waning years of life. I'm sure that will indeed make for huge savings in overall Medicare liability.

I cared for both my parents for eight years before their deaths. Their health problems, common to many seniors, required more numerous doctor visits, more medications and increasingly more numerous hospital stays as they entered the last years of their lives. Each one of these factors led to a few more months, weeks or days of life that they could use in a dwindling span of time that belonged to them. Thanks to modern enovations in the medical field, those increments of time still provided moments to enjoy the gift of life for themselves and our family.

With the penalties for re-admission in place, hospitals and physicians alike will find themselves answerable to government mandates in their decision making rather than their expertise or the needs of their elderly patients. Is there anyone who will deny the fact that the elderly will die more quickly and in greater numbers as a result of these policies?

As a daughter, I know the experience of standing at the bedside of an elderly, beloved parent in the emergency room, knowing that they were fading fast and needed the care and facilities that were available or their span of life would be over and I would lose them. I was never ready for that. The doctors and hospital staff gave me many precious days and hours with my parents that I otherwise would not have had without their compassion and dedication to preserving life. Those same medical professionals also knew when they could no longer sustain my parent's lives even though they could have kept their physical bodies indefinitely intact; and they compassionatly advised me of that. By virtue of their dedication to their field; I trusted that their judgement was correct and that the time had come to let go.

For my own daughter, however, I fear a different scenario could take place if my age progression follows that of my own parents. Her anxious wait by my bedside in the Emergency Room for the saving powers of my doctor's orders that I be put under hospital care could end in rejection because I exceed some quota or don't meet some standard set by a panel of politicians and financial advisors. A panel of beaurocrats who view my humanity in strictly financial and statistical terms in spite of what my physician may think medically.

Welcome to the world of Socialism. We have arrived. The right to kill and dispose of human life that doesn't meet Government standards before natural birth has been won. Now, the right to deny medical means to extend life beyond the governmental standard of "productivity" has all but been won as well.

This creeping national inhumanity is nothing new under the sun and neither will the final result to our nation be. Rather than the human being that my doctor and healthcare professionals see, my life will now be subject to the opinions of a group of number crunchers who view me as simply one of too many. I will be treated according to their concepts in order for my hospital to avoid fines and bankruptcy. It sounds kind of like what's being done to the coal industry except that the "emmissions" being controlled are human beings.

If you or your loved ones fall into the "Senior" category; count your blessings. Your government will decide the rest.

Don’t know how much of this is Obamacare, my in laws believed it was. Elderly relative taken to hospital. Had to go back soon in a relapse. The doctors were very upset because they pay a fine under medicare if they readmit the patient in less than 30 days. So then the doctor would not prescribe the oxygen needed unless the family agreed to put the patient in hospice consisting of morphine and reduced treatment. So they had to go home with the relative suffering and try to get visiting nurses to argue for oxygen. They also felt they couldn’t return to the hospital anymore. Finally they had go go with hospice, the patient did get oxygen then and died a few days later.

Death panels are the (unspoken) fix for Medicare and SS funding - and yes if you cut the lifespan enough the numbers DO work....

3 years ago, come this January, hubby had a 3x bypass.

The surgeon flat out told me that was his one shot and if he needed further surgery, too bad.

No matter that we have the best Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverage available, Medicare gets “first say” in what happens to him...or doesn’t.

Anybody wonder why I’ve been slowly falling apart since the maggot took over?

He and his Doctrine of Death MUST go.

Sarah Palin was right about Death Panels.

Those media personalities and politicians who scoffed at her for making this claim ought to be asked if they're ready to apologize either for being stupid, gullible fools or for intentionally misleading the public.

Exactly right. Socialists/totalitarians create the problem forcing you to pay for their unsustainable schemes. Socialists/totalitarians create the solution by forcing you to die after they've plundered you economically. Quite a racket. Plunder and death. Socialism 2.0

BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM

DEFUND socialist collectives/programs, foreign and domestic.

DEPOPULATE socialists from the boly politic.

DEFUND, DEPOPULATE them BEFORE they plunder and kill you.

It's easy to...

...live - free - republic

Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. - Bastiat

The frightening and reprehensible thing is that those who write and pass these laws have probably exempted themselves from it.

Here's what I wrote a while back:

I've posted this many times before but what if somebody is denied healthcare under Bammycare? People naturally have spouses, children, siblings, friends, parents, grandparents, etc. depending on the age of the one denied. I would hate to be a member of a death panel making such a decision to deny. I'd stay out of dark allies, look under my car before starting it, keep my eyes out for shadows, and jump at every noise I hear at night. Is that noise I hear at 2:30 AM the neighbor's cat or is it Grandpa Jones' grandson, which I denied care to his granddad, with a posse of his friends armed with baseball bats and a shotgun? How about blocking the road in front of me, an old lady in a 1967 Caddy. Did she break down or is she the wife of the man who I denied a hip replacement to, waiting for me where as I step out of my car to help, the last thing I hear is a .45 going off just before St. Peter appears. It's 10 PM, my kid is late in coming home and the phone rings. How about this, what if I denied care to a Tony Soprano?

I know under the insurance companies, there are cases of denial but in a lot of cases, you can get the doctor and hospital to get them to reverse their decision or just go ahead and let the family pay for it and/or go on a charity case. Not so with the government, if you are denied, there is very little redress at all. Ayn Rand put in in a long monologue where it boils down to this, "the more laws you create, the more criminals you make" and when you eliminate the process and route where one can make a challenge to make things right legally, that leaves only one other way, revenge and/or at least forced coercion via illegal means. This is a pandora's box to be sure, people will do anything for their loved ones and for survival.

I remember Quark's quote from DS9 (Star Trek) about us humans, "Let me tell you something about humans, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and as violent as the most blood-thirsty Klingon."

I don't feel comfortable in visioning this scenario, but if we keep going on the present track, it will happen.

“Death panels are the (unspoken) fix for Medicare and SS funding - and yes if you cut the lifespan enough the numbers DO work....”

The next step will most likely be the legal right of relatives or next-of-kin to authorize euthenasia on “compassionate grounds.” The desensitizing of our society to the value of human life through the legal termination of “inconvenient” offspring will only make this a small step toward disposing of human life that has outlived it’s usefullness to the “collective” good. Our youth are already in the educational process of preserving the collective rather than the individual.

Dead people vote democrat and don’t complain. That is what makes European socialist health care so successful. Their failure and abuse is burned or buried.

Ever heard of fema coffins? Hmmm. Boomers are a big and will be extremely poor generation in their old age. They are going to die on the young side.
