Many of my neighbors had a job a the FMC plant on the west end of Pocatello. It is served by a good rail connection and has a big phosphate strip mine on the adjacent mountain. My neighbor across the street spent most of last year prepping the plant to be decommissioned. That leaves him with some crappy shifts at the food processing plant in town.

We had a Hoku silicon solar cell plant built in town too. It appears that was just more "green" flim flam. We'll have an empty building with no employees or products. The rail connection made that attractive as a way to move product out of town too.
