Escalation. No real detail except this from Reuters:
TURKEY SAYS HAS STRUCK TARGETS IN SYRIA IN RESPONSE TO MORTAR STRIKE ACROSS BORDER - STATEMENT FROM PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE
This came after a Syrian mortar killed five Turks today.
Turkey has contacted the United Nations and the Nato military alliance after Syrian shells killed five people in a Turkish town near the border between the two countries. The shells exploded after being fired into Akcakale from Tall al-Abyad in Syria, where forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad are trying to put down an 18-month-old insurgency.
Will he use this “crisis” to get out of the debate?
“Some islamist will blame the Jews in 3...2...1...”
Of course it’s the Jooz. They all had their fans aimed in that direction, as it was a warm day.
They should be OK in Turkey, but if they were in Syria I'd really worry.
Except that Turkey is part of NATO...
GM is dead. Alqueda is alive and well.
When one member of NATO goes to war, we all do. That’s the treaty.
Assad stated that if he feels he is going to lose, he will launch his WMDs into Israel.
Be careful what you wish for. The Turks have become a much more militantly jihadist Islam country, as the secular government has been largely defeated at the polls, and the popular sentiment is AGAINST Bashar al-Assad. Turkey is pretty much on the side of the rebel forces in Syria, and their involvement in what has been a largely “civil” war, with the intent of replacing the more secular Bashar with an Iranian-supported puppet. Bashar will fall, much like Mubarak in Egypt and Khaddafi in Libya, leaving a vacuum that shall be quickly filled with a much more virulent and anti-Israel band of thugs.
Iran will not be Israel’s only problem in the Middle East. The cresent from Pakistan to Morocco is almost complete, and is coming together for a pincers action on Israel.
And Israel has been largely abandoned by the Current Regime in the White Hut.
Too bad “O” doesn’t read Freerepublic, or he’d know about this too!! :)
Maybe next week sometime, he’ll respond!!
Interesting that neither Fox or CNN had this, but UK and Jewish media had it on their front pages right away.
Agree. Here is how I see it.
The Turks, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire believe Jihad was over, they might as well give up on any dreams of global domination, join NATO, try to join the EU, remain secular etc...
Then, the Third Jihad began. It had already been in the works with Muslims colonizing the Western world and slipping into positions of power, even in the United States. Turkey now sees this Muslim Brotherhood caliphate beginning to form.
Tunisia, Egypt, potentially Syria. The Muslim Brotherhood has been clear that they intend to get rid of the monarchies in the Arabian peninsula. Libya may have a secular government, but apparently the Jihadists can do whatever they wish in that shattered nation.
Turkey sees this and is shaking off the dust from its own Jihad. After all, if a new caliphate is going to be led by anyone, it’s the Turks.
Slowly, internally, Turkey is gearing up to lead the new Ottoman Empire.
Another excuse for gas prices to go up even higher now.
just freakin’ peachy...
I knew Odumbass would manage to get a war started
Now the Muslim Brotherhood is bombing NATO targets
And they are NOT EVEN IN CONTROL Of Syria yet
Hey, Obammy...
This is how you deal with pukes.
I ALWAYS get a warm fuzzy feeling when muzzies kill muzzies!
LLS
So if Syria attacks Turkey, is that considered an attack on NATO?
Huh? Iran supports Bashar, and the rebels loathe Shias and thus Iran.
Grand coalitions/conspiracies are neat, simplyfying, and almost always wrong.
Witness the Soviets and China in the 1960s becoming so hostile they fought a small-scale war, while we mistakenly still bought into the "International Communist Conspiracy" centrally directed from Moscow.
