A Marine learns very early that the most important person is the one next to you, if he/she fails you fail. It is drilled into a Marine in boot camp. One recruit screws up the whole platoon does the punishment. So as a man we are helping anyone who is having a problem with a situation. It becomes an ingrained survival instinct to help.
The young PFC who helped the young lad had a very big heart combined with a newly ingrained instinct to help anyone in trouble.
