Batman
When I was very young, I was almost scared of this one.
Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour
This takes a bunch of theatrical shorts, and surrounds them with new, made-for-TV footage. I guess its OK to count it as a TV show. The opening itself was made-for-TV.
Scooby Doo Where Are You? (two versions)
This first one here is rarely heard. I like it perhaps even more than the familiar version.
Hawaii Five-O
Of course this one has to be included.
All in the Family
I think its safe to say that we have definitely entered into the 70s.
H.R. Pufnstuf
This is a brilliantly done, live-action fantasy opening, made on a low budget, decades before CGI. If they were to do this today, theyd spent far more money using CGI, and get far less interesting results.
Bob Newhart Show
One of the best TV songs of all time.
Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids
Although it seems obvious now, when I was a child, I did not know that Bill Cosby did the voice for Mushmouth.
Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
My dog and I met Mr. Rogers in real life twice. He remembered us the second time.
Sanford and Son
A fantastic opening song for a pretty funny show.
Sesame Street
This was a wonderful show in the 70s. Later on, the switch from Grover to Elmo as host was a big letdown. It also sucked that they got rid of the guy who used to bang his head on the piano. And its absurd that Cookie Monster started eating vegetables. Old school rules!
Good Times
Another funny yet serious show from Norman Lear, whose shows had this wonderful habit of having excellent theme songs.

I was never a pufnstuf fan, but I did enjoy Land of the Lost.
I still remember the words to Gilligan’s Island...
Why not post your mess here, instead of trolling for hits?
Free Republic is not here to be your hit farm.
“Mannix” - one of the greatest jazz waltz trumpet lines ever.
My favorite was the theme to Top Cat!
My favorites were the themes to Top Cat and Johnny Quest!
Oh, Witchy-poo ... my brothers and I loved H.R. Pufnstuf !
Raw Hide
This one has a kissin' cousin in the theme for the cartoon series "Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse" and a pedigree that goes back to "Peter Gunn". Check them out.
TV Theme songs - in my head
Dragnet
The Odd Couple ( On November 13th....)
Dick Van Dyke Show
MASH (suicide is painless)
Andy Griffith show
Bonanza ( they actually put words to this and the boys sang it in one episode)
All the Disney shows had great themes - Any Burnett, Texas John Slaughter, Davey Crockett, The Swamp fox, etc...
Room 222
I was driving through Columbus, Ohio a couple of years ago and one of the local radio stations was screwing around with an “All-TV Themes” format.
It was quite weird actually.
You can’t embed videos here, and the number of links is super huge.
I like Land of the Lost even more as an adult than I did as a child.
I included Top Cat in part 1, which is linked to from part 2.
Jonny Quest is also in part 1. Hanna-Barbera cartoons ruled in the 60s!
Thanks.
