I don't think that Dearbornistan is a Muslim-majority town - yet. Nor does it have a Muslim-majority police force. It's just that the local non-Muslims pander to the Muslims for political reasons and because they are intimidated.

Unfortunately FReepers are just as susceptible to popular falsehoods as liberals. The reality is that there is a dense concentration of muslims in the area but its certainly not a muslim majority. In fact Michigan ranks about 6th nationwide in muslim population.

I only live some 70 miles down the road and can't remember the last time I ran into an obvious muslim.

This is really more an issue of pandering to a minority than being ruled by a majority.

More than that. I also think that Dearborn wwould much rather have Middle Easterner Muslims on its east side instead of Detroiters. The former will take care of their neighborhood. Orville Hubbard (a well known segregationist) of all people let the Lebanese (at that time Christians) in.
