they don’t have teleprompters when they address the troops. True, and I can tell you from first hand experience that Al West has PLENTY of practice issuing command guidance to subordinate leaders and staff without the luxury or need for a mic or a ghost speechwriter.

I watched a youtube of LtCol West address his battalion before they deployed to Iraq.
This old sailor was ready to follow this fine leader anywhere and was disappointed that he couldn’t.
