Most of the Soldiers I have known have been very patriotic. I didn’t write that every Soldier I have known has been patriotic. Some didn’t see their time in the military as service, they saw their time as a means of getting ahead. That’s OK. But it’s foolish to think that every Soldier is in the military because of a felt patriotic duty.
Great point and an important distinction. Duckworth has all the pedigrees of an Obama style leftist and political opportunist. Check her education and early life history. She was immersed in the socialist culture of Hawaii in her formative teens, attended lefty U of H, graduating with a degree in political science, then a Masters Degree in international affairs from George Washington University. So she joins ROTC latently as a grad student, attends IERW as a reservist then snags an ILARNG staff position that finds her deployed in Iraq. Fate takes its course with an RPG thru her chin bubble, she's deemed a hero for surviving, placed on a liberal pedastal and the rest is history.
