The Progressive Movement, better known as Communism, also tried to take over the country during the pain of the Great Depression. Though FDR was a popular president, the people rejected the notion of going Communist to cure their economic ills.

Well, every year about this time I tell people that my eighth great grandfather tried communism at the Plymouth Colony and it didn’t work. (He was rhe governor of the colony - Wm. Bradford) This year I read it in free republic and I thank you. It is hard to read his book, but I read it every now and then. By the way, they accepted me into the Mayflower Society because I have a family bible that goes back to 1760.
