The insertion of a paramilitary force in a foreign country where its military operation was not authorized by Congress
to carry out an extraconstitutional covert (or clandestine) mission under the direct control of the WH, whose Security Advisor’s main concern was insulating the president from any repercussions
Then the betrayal of that American paramilitary team when the SHTF, and the potus playing his “I knew nothing about this but there will be a full investigation” card

There have been allusions to a CIA Station Chief “In Tripoli”, maybe he panicked or got desperate
You assume there was a military contingency plan, I assume there was not, beyond a normal Tripoli embassy evacuation plan.
These guys were not in Tripoli, but in one or more “safe houses” in Benghazi
Presumably no one knew where they were, except the Agency and al Qaeda

I believe that everyone is missing the point when they mention what could’ve should’ve been done.
It is my direct belief that Zero “DIDN’T” want it done.
To me, his going to bed after being told that Stevens was missing, is a direct sign that Zero knew that his plans were in play and he could now rest.

It was his intent for Stevens to come up missing, kidnapped, or whatever, to cover up his arms dealing to AQ.

“What’s he got in store if he loses the election?” We now are pretty certain that AQ has MANPADS/Stingers/SAMS and other various missles, as well as Syrias Chem/bio weapons.
And he’s (personally) gone out of his way to try and make friends with our enemies.

Yes it has, it just is not working in this situation. I think you are making good points, but they do the current administration no good. They all add up to incompetence, indifference, or misdirection, all of which are bad for the current administration.
The speed and volume and breadth of communication available on the planet today make the "disavow all knowledge" card very difficult to play.
I’m trying not to assume anything. But I’m hearing different people who claim knowledge of how these things go, but whose claims don’t make sense with each other as far as I can see. So I’m trying to sort out whether the claims contradict each other.
I know Travis has military knowledge. I don’t know your background or how you know that covert CIA operations don’t involve collusion with the military, including contingency plans. If you are CIA you probably can’t tell me so I have no way of knowing how to evaluate the claims. I’m not doubting either you or Travis; I just have no way of verifying what is said. The system itself doesn’t allow me much way to verify what is said. It’s the nature of covert CIA operations, if I understand correctly...
But since you say the message got into CRITIC channels with an automatic distribution list, wouldn’t that mean that the military would have been drawn in? And if so, would that have activated military contingency plans as if this was NOT a covert CIA operation? The immediate question for me is whether or not the military was alerted and contingency plans went into effect, as Travis has described they would. Would the CRITIC channels have activated military contingency plans?
Who was in that WH situation room? This is a huuuuuuuge scandal. Where is our Woodward and Bernstein? We need a deep throat.
Covering up for the Democrat administration, just as the real Woodward and Bernstein did. Nixon was only taken out because he was a Republican. Democrat administrations had routinely done far worse, and their actions were ignored.
It is only because we have new media that we are starting to learn of scandals durning Democrat administrations.
Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky stories were spiked by the MSM. Waco stories were spiked by the MSM. Fast and Furious has been spiked by the MSM.
These stories have only come out because of the new media. There was not enough new media to prevent the coverup in Waco, and the MSM was able to save Bill Clinton's administration by claiming it was "all about sex".
We will see if the MSM has lost enough clout and the new media gained enough to prevent this scandal from being pushed down the memory hole. The MSM may be worried enough about the shreds of credibility that they still have, to see that Obama is a lost cause. I would not bet on it.

Those in the CIA Annex requested permission to aid the consulate. Were told to stand down at least twice. Went anyway after being told to stand down the second time
Do you remember the point in the Hal Moore movie, We Were Soldiers Once..., where Moore realizes he is over-run? That was 45 years ago.
He says damn it, takes the radio and calls, “Broken Arrow”. For that theater it was the universal call for a unit being over-run and it is hard for me to believe that an equivelent call did not go out from the consulate or embassy with every asset copied knowing what was happening.
No, CRITICs do NOT activate military contingency plans
They just send people in the military intel watches scrambling for their binders with checklists that include notification/recall lists and references to military contingency plans.... and more checklists
Those checklists would start with being directed to implement the plan from top if the chain, starting with the NCA
I still feel there was no military contingency plan to insert US (or NATO) forces into Benghazi for a “rescue” or evacuation if a covert (or clandestine) CIA weapons tracking or weapon shipping operation headed by a US “Ambassador” was compromised and turned into an al Qaeda attack .... if that indeed what this was about
again, just guessing based on past real-life experience in operations and other planning
It’s not who was in the WH sitroom, but who was the attending senior rep that was to directly report to the president, when did he, what did he tell him, and what was the president’s response?
“Keep (insert name) informed and let me know if you need me ..” ????????????????????
