“There is enormous prejudice against Asians in the US.”
Odd. I guess my Filipina wife and Filipina daughter-in-law have escaped it by not being too ‘asian’...
Is there some? Yes. But no more than one encounters as a white guy.
You know, I've always considered Asians to be extremely smart but if they think the way to poke the union goons in the eye is to vote democrat I might have to rethink that.
It doesn't matter whether it's true or not - the rhetoric used in the immigration debate reinforces the perception.
Also, Asian-Americans have been able to attain more state and local political offices through Democrat big city machine politics (which feel familiar to an Asian immigrant) than they have through Republican meritocracy. This is perceived as racism, and it is...on the part of the Democrats, who reward loyal voting blocs by race.
When the Republicans eventually get a Jeremy Lin-like figure elected to the Senate (and they will certainly do it first), many things will change. Until then, Asian-Americans as a group will likely continue to vote Democrat against their economic interests.
