Warren Buffett on holding gold:

Gold gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head.

But those Martians would fully understand printing up more and more $$$ to pay for the projects of politically connected Governors in the financial capital of the Empire? If not Martians, at least the Romans would understand it!

Every natural disaster that occurs in every state results in federal aid. This will never change.

I have always failed to understand the Tea Party stance on this. Of course, every Republican governor and Tea Party patriot has also failed to understand this line of thought the very second their state is destroyed by a natural disaster.

The Gulf and SE coasts will see more hurricanes and the deep south will see more tornadoes. and we’ll see more federal aide flowing into those areas. It’s just absurd to rail against FEMA and Federal aid for such things. You can nuance it all you want, but it’s still absurd.

In addition, I’m not understanding your point about the states that pay more into the federal coffers than they take. You’re saying that while it’s indeed true (it is), that it’s bullcrap because the biggest “taker” states house our military bases and farms?

Do you agree with massive farm subsidies?

This is close to Freeper Editorial standards. If you tweaked it just a little, this is quality work.

I can’t find it now, but I read somewhere that after the 1906 earthquake devastated San Francisco, Teddy Roosevelt offered federal aid to the city. The Governor replied (paraphrased) “We’ll let you know if we need help.”

If true, we’ve come a long way, baby.

Maybe N.Y. should have thought that maybe, just maybe they may need money for ANOTHER disaster before they spent it on bullsh!t projects and government largesse.

“What makes the Big Sh*tty so spoecial?

Let the Liberal Democrtats rebuild their own city. They have certainly stolen many megabucks over the years.

Obama and the Democrats talked about “shovel ready jobs” - and not they are living in one.

Start digging, folks, start digging.

PS You had this happen a few times before, so you had historic warnings and should have bought insurance.

PPS Had you not disarmed yourselves, you would not be cowering in the dark, afraid of the Urban Ferals your Liberalism created.

i just heard this on the radio and came here to verify it. i pay for insurance to cover lose. if i was on a flood plain i would have flood insurance. if i was renting i would have renters’ insurance. it’s the responsible thing to do. if they want 100% they can kiss my flyover country white conservvative patriotic butt. let them pay for their own rebuilding. given it’s been 11 years and the WTC is still not finished, rebuilding after sandy should only take 100 years. corrupt arrogant bastards.
