Hey! I've been having an issue with Firefox over the past month or so. In the tools/options page I have it set up for scrolling pages with the mouse wheel. Lately, almost on a daily basis, when I pull up certain webpages the wheel scrolling goes dormant and I have to use the scroll bar on right side of screen. This just happened a few moments ago when I pulled up FR. It seems random and no particular website that I can discern causes it. When this happens I cannot go to the tools/options page and reset the scrolling. The only way to get it back again is to a reboot. It's not a huge issue, but it's annoying.

Mouse maybe? They do expire.
The mouse seems to work fine. When this happens, I still have the ability to scroll in MS word documents, Excel spreadsheets PDF files and the like.
Firefox has been pushing out updates so fast that many software applications become incompatable until FF tweaks the application.
Your mouse-ware may be experiencing some incompatability issues. Check the latest list from FF (usually given when you update) or contact Mozilla for help.
Those tiny little wires do break. Do you have an old mouse to swap?
Is FF the only browser this happens to? Try Chrome or IE. if they work fine then upgrade or re-install FF.
Where do you specify that? I'm on FF 16.0.2 and the only options that seem to be mouse related pertain to autoscrolling, smooth scrolling, and hardware acceleration.
Are you running Windows? The control panel applet for the mouse has options for the scroll wheel.
Yes, I have the option set for smooth scrolling. Running Windows 7 professional. Control panel options in Windows allow scrolling options. However, the scrolling feature gets dormant in Firefox when this happens but will still work for Windows based applications such as MS documents and so forth. I just loaded FF 16.0.2 and we’ll see if that solves the problem.
What version of FF?
Any recent upgrades to FF or to the mouse?
Could be a problem with gestures.
I have had similar problems with some versions of FF.
FF’s rapid release insanity causes as many new problems as it fixes old ones.
A simple restart of FF or a computer reboot might resolve the problem.
I’ve been finding that Firefox has been gumming up ridiculously lately so I just up and switched to Chrome. It just works better.
Browsers support multiple frames, or windows within the overall page. You sometimes have to click in the frame you wish to scroll to make it current, and then your mouse will work fine.
Foxfire keeps crashing my PC. But it’s still better than that mutt, IE. Both suck, really.
Try going back to a reset point in Windows before the problem started and see if that fixes things. If not I would suspect a mouse problem. Check to see if there are updated drivers for your mouse. Lastly try a registry cleaner like CCleaner sometimes there is just some left over crud that messes up things.
I have found that Firefox is not 100% compatible with all websites out there. Some had control buttons or forms that would work in IE but not Firefox. Many times that gets fixed with a future update.
If you use a logitech mouse, you may need to install an add on called “SmoothWheel” or “Yet Another Smooth Scrolling”. I’ve dealt with a lot of lagginess from FF and logitech mice WRT scroll wheels. Try SmoothWheel first and see if it helps.
I've been running Firefox since it was Netscape and have had no problems. Machine is running XP AppPac 3. I Have Vista on Wife's machine, don't much care for it but it seems to be stable w/ Mozila software, FF included.

PS FF updates seem to step on their own 'plug-ins' more than anything else. Those problems tend to go away rapidly since we are all doing their Beta testing!
Checked everything, batteries, transceiver, KVM, location, drivers, sw, etc.
Just when I was about to give up, I popped open the battery compartment, and shook the heck out of the thing while it was upside down.
Nothing came out, but something was rattling around inside.
It still rattles when picked up, but it works fine, allowing me to go back to using the KVM setup I had before the problem started, although I'm gentle, just in case, when flipping it over to turn it off or on.

Are you surprised? Websites designed with MS tools may have proprietary features that go beyond currently approved Internet standards. Microsoft is a usurper bent on setting their own standards. Other browsers have to play catchup to conform with MS tools. Website developers ought to design for the lowest common denominator, rather than assume everyone uses a MS browser.
