“If you use a credit or debit card, somewhere your purchases are being put into a database.”

You are correct and here is the proof. It’s not restricted to CC or debit cards. We always pay either in cash or personal check when buying anything.

2 weeks ago we received a robo-call from our local food chain (Price Chopper, Golub Inc.) in regards to a recalled cereal item that we had purchased a month earlier and that it should be returned at once for a full refund.

About 12 years ago this chain started offering ‘Advantage Cards’ for their “preferred” customers. They promoted the idea under the auspices that you will no longer have to engage in the toilsome deed of actually tearing out coupons from their flier in order to take advantage of their sale items. Which, I must add that they have now gone back to having you cut coupons from the flier. Go figure.

The phone number we used when we first applied for their so-called ‘Advantage Card’ was changed 6 years ago, yet they somehow found our new unlisted number.

I was called “paranoid” for stating that this was a ploy to record your every purchase and that the market will someday be granted the power to restrict purchases based on any medical condition, i.e., diabetic = no sugar, drinking problem = no beer, etc.

I immediately phoned our now grown married children of what happened and proudly proclaimed “Looks like your crazy old Dad was right again, huh kids?”

Starve the big banks. If not already, use local banks or credit unions. Use cash, not credit cards when possible.

I agree....I would add one other thing....save your money by boycotting any and all advertisers on CBS, ABC, etc. These arseholes have lied and covered the truth up and I say starve them to death!!! Sorry for any good businesses that suffer in the process.....you choose poorly.

I would add one other thing ....subscribe to Theblaze TV.....only place you will get truth in the news.

Not sure if this is true elsewhere, but our local library has tons of movies on DVD that they loan out FREE, with nothing more than a library card required.

We've managed to see quite a few good movies that way. RedBox is also on-line so you can see what's in the box near you and reserve a movie over the 'net, then go pick it up.

We are now living in fear. Big Brother is so powerful that we are afraid to express an opinion.
What do mean "we?" Just because you and some other nut-job FReeper have no guts don't include the rest of us in your paranoia.

They use your shares for surety and then speculate with it. Much like banks invest your money you have deposited and then speculate with it.

It’s already happened. MF global, an American financial services firm lost customers hypothecated securities and commodities on a bad bet on European Currency.

YOUR A GENIUS! I am usually a good tipper, but you have given me other ideas!

Your grammar is in error. You should have said "You're a...." but he is not it is just rude. If you don't want to tip go to Burger king or Mickey D's, or better yet stay home.

Thanks for the link. I stopped getting the local paper that had the NY Times Sunday crossword in it and missed it. I started getting it from my parents until my constant harrassment of them for supporting our local liberal rag finally paid off and they cancelled their subscription, too. Of course, it cost me my NY Times crosswords, but a small price. And now, no price at all.

“How about a barter thread here on Freerepublic?”

Great idea!

Jim, is this possible? Maybe charge a buck for every transaction?

You missed one of the **most** important ways to starve the beast. TAKE YOUR KID OUT OF THE GOVERNMENT INDOCTRINATION CAMPS! ( K-12 and college) It been estimated that each child in the government K-12 indoctrination camps costs, on average, about $17,000. Remove your child, or make it possible for a grandchild to leave, and there is significantly less money going toward the Marxist indoctrination mind corrupting complex.

aren't you the one that is so extreme that your own children refuse to follow your ideas about education. I seem to remember someone with your extreme views saying similar things a while ago.

http://www.westernjournalism.com/exclusive-investigative-reports/who-funds-the-radical-left-in-america/

Ford Foundation. This foundation consistently supports causes Henry Ford would never have supported and has become one of the largest donors to Tides, giving them millions of dollars since 1997. Not only that, but the Ford Motor company itself also gives to Tides.

With the Tides Foundation and Tides Center now the largest funder of the left in America today, Drummond Pike may be one of the most powerful men in America. This scruffy, California-based, anti-war activist, founded the Tides Foundation in 1976 and has managed to raise millions of dollars from America’s leading foundations. What he promises them is anonymity since they are able to claim they are simply contributing to a foundation self described as being “committed to a society based on fairness, equal justice and equally shared economic opportunities…” That sounds fairly innocuous.

The contributors therefore have some “deniability” about how their money is used but Pike then directs this money to a massive network of hard-left groups. Indeed, Pike even states, “Anonymity is very important to most of the people we work with.”
