On November 7, an elementary school teacher in south central Louisiana allegedly told her class of fourth graders that she was “attending America’s funeral” because Barack Obama won the presidential election, according to a report by KATC, the local ABC television affiliate.

Partisan politics, as such, has no direct place in a teacher's presentation to the children. But one cannot honestly teach, when the subject of America is before the class, and hide the fact that the Founding Fathers, leaders of the contemporary generation of settler communities, built by individual effort from the ground up, intended a Republic premised upon individual responsibility, local treatment of local problems & individual accountability, at every level.

Nor can any rational teacher pretend that it makes a whit of sense having a distant bureaucracy stick its nose into the local class room, the local physician's office, or the business of any individual in any local community's negotiating a mortgage loan on his family residence. And that rational teacher needs to be honest as to what were the grievances set forth in the Declaration of Independence; the same sort of grievances that all rational, traditionally minded Americans, have with the ever more intrusive Federal Bureaucracy, today.

See Declaration Of Independence--With Study Guide.

That teacher, whether right about this issue or not, was none too bright to say that to a class of 4th graders.

I'd say the teacher is "brighter" than a Dem teacher who says Obozo's the greatest thing since sliced bread. They say stuff like that all the time and get away with even though they are absolutely wrong. At least this teacher is saying something with more truth to it.

We are talking about 4th graders here. Politics has no place here, right or left.

Guess it's OK, however, to teach them about homosex. (FTR, I agree with you -- 4th grade is too early to teach them about any of this stuff.)

She’s going to scare the children!

Not that teachers spoonfeeding pseudo-science on global warming, overpopulation, the extinction of the rainforest, etc. creates within these fragile minds terror, anxiety and dread.

At least this teacher is correct, and Obama hinself has boasted from day-1 that he plans to “fundamentally transform” the USA.

Reminds me of the big deal in yesterday's New York Daily News over three or four tweets by people upset by 0bama's reelection and they used a naughty word. No death threats against him or his family, or threats to riot in protest, or to burn down the White House. Nope, just a bad word. Shame on them.

Of course, I bring up the other stuff because other than Twitchy.com, I haven't those tweets (against Romney, naturally) discussed anywhere. And as a school teacher, let me add, plenty of teachers are quick to give their opinions, but we never hear much about it, because it usually toes the liberal line.

Perhaps she could have been more balanced, and incorporated the positions of both sides. For example, she could say ‘The country is screwed, and it’s all the fault of “MMM, MMM, MMM, Barack Hussein Obama...”’

I agree with her but she had no business saying it to her class and should be disciplined as outlined by the districts code of conduct.

Glad to hear that the normal liberal indroctination doesn’t apply unfortunately as this teacher probably has it right.

I agree with you, JustaCowgirl. When I was in college to become a teacher, this is exactly what they told us. Keep our opinions to ourselves. Of course, that was back in the late 60’s, early 70’s. Times were different then.

Smarter as a teacher guide the students toward questioning and logical thinking than dumping an opinion on them.

Isn’t there some sort of “it’s not wrong if it’s true” rule that should come into play here?

Yes.

But there’s some asshole teacher who supports Obama waiting for people like us to become hypocrites to their values.

IE...turn into liberals.
